Lilliana's POV

I ran up the stairs a feeling of nostalgia washing over me making my stomach coil in a horrid anticipation at a fight. Some type of conflict in which I would be sanctioned to kill one of the Mafia. I would prowl these glass and metal woods until I honed in on my prey, I would be the one to bring the Mafia lords down. Because I was the only one that could do it, I was the only one who was able to even get close to the venomous snake. Or that nasty little monkey of a Boss Dezarae The Third.

I slowed to a walk as I neared the top of the metal stairs the nostalgic feeling rising back inside of my chest. I would not fail this time I would not. The door opened without another sound and I slipped through swiftly shutting it behind me as I moved down the stark white hallway, several paintings of the snakes coiled ready to strike hung adorning the blank walls that surrounded me. I didn’t have a gun I didn’t even have a weapon, I was screwed if I was met with a confrontation with Nyoka. My body shuddered at the thought of what her torture could do to my body again. I wouldn’t go there I was stronger now.

“Hey You!” I didn’t turn to look in the direction of the voice.

I had to avoid confrontation, if they spotted me here then my whole cover would be blown. I had gotten lucky with the earlier times but this was just stupid and I knew it was but I wouldn’t just leave Fate here when it was my fault he was here in the first place. If he hadn’t tried to help me or offered to tell Stryker about my past then Helios would have left him alone. I shouldn’t have told him anything, and really he didn’t know much except for the basics. Which wasn’t really a lot so I don’t know what Helios was thinking. If Fate was killed those men would fall apart, they wouldn’t be able to pick themselves up after another loss to the Mafia. If he thought it would only stoke their fire then he was wrong.

I understood people most of the time, those men needed each other they had found stability in each other and would seek that out whenever and however they could in each other. Not in anybody else. If one of them died then it would be like losing half your body. I understood that type of loss I really did, but I needed their help in order to climb my way to the top and to avoid my fate.

A door up the hallway opened and Nyokas second in command, Lyre Brahimny, stepped out, he was tall and thin lithe and very fast. He turned to look at me his natural hat hair was a soft brown and just came to his dark black brown eyes. I stopped in the hallway skidding to a halt, he gave me a half smirk and took a step forward disappearing for split seconds appearing next to me. My eyes went wide and I gasped sharply as he brought his fist up into my gut sending me onto my back. I cried out as he brought his heel down onto my chest. I rolled over onto my hands and knee’s coughing and sputtering watching blood drip onto the floor.

I clenched my jaw a growl rumbling up my throat making my teeth chatter. I spun on Lyre leaping at him pushing him back onto the ground, I pushed off from him running down the hallway leaving him there. I didn’t have time for this kind of shit, I had to find Fate and soon or I would never forgive myself. My first friend, and I get him killed, not happening. But he had seen me, I should go back and shut him up permanently. Helios would kill me I knew he would the minute he found out I had left to get Fate, he would send an artillery after me just to shut me down. I had warned him when I was in that damn cell that he wouldn’t be able to control me. I wasn’t like anything he had dealt with, his only response was a devil like grin and a quiet comment, ‘I know’ was all he said.

That was his entire response, and just in those two words he had loaded his entire plan and life story. In that moment I knew more about him than any other living breathing creature on the planet would ever know. Helios was not the man he was made out to be by Stryker, Webb and Fate. He was a devil in disguise, I would make him pay for trying to use Fate against me like this. Another door opened ahead and this time several men strolled out with smug grins painting their different faces. I jogged to a stop in front of them maybe two arms lengths away from them. We just stood there watching each other, there were five of them and one of me. Hm, Odds were in my favour. I thought to myself as I cracked my knuckles in anticipation, I took a deep breath lowering my stance and taking a running leap at them.
