Strykers POV

I ran down the metal stairs my heart racing in my chest, the burns on my body healing as I moved more. It hurt like hell but it seemed to be helping, Fate was being helped by Webb as they followed after me. They weren’t healing as quickly, probably because they were in the front seat when the explosion went off.

Leaping the last three steps I hit the ground heavily using it to propel myself at the door pushing it open. I stumbled to a halt, blood sprayed against the walls in an array of patterns. The puddles on the floor were smeared in an obvious sign of struggle. One of the lights had been smashed and its partner was flickering and making an audible buzzing noise as the loose wires snapped around in the air.

I felt Webb and Fate come to a stop behind me, both took a sharp breath in and cursed weakly. My hand curled into a fist against the door, slowly I took small steps into the war zone. My mouth opened slightly as I tried to catch her scent. I couldn’t tell anybody else’s, but hers I knew.

“Stryker” Webb hissed from behind me.

“She fought” I laughed running my hand through my hair.

She had fought like hell to get out, I shouldn’t have left her alone. I should have stayed back with her, or taken her with us instead.

“Stryker, she’ll be alright. She’s tough as hell” Webb tried to assure me.

I shook my head turning around to look at them, “He tried to kill us, if we hadn’t been getting out of the car in the first place he would have.” I growled at him.

Fate limped forward his dark brown eyes looking down the hallway, they grew cold and sad.

“She wouldn’t give up Stryker, We have to believe that. We don’t know where she is, so that should be our first concern” He said walking past me and limping down the hallway.

I watched him move towards the War room door and had to snap myself out of the trance I had placed myself in. I glanced back at Webb who nodded gravely at me, with that I turned and followed after Fate who stood outside the War room door.

I walked up beside him and leaned forward manually opening the door, it slid back and I felt my jaw clench at the scene. Several of Helios’ men lay scattered around the room, their blood still that sickening bright colour of red that you never expected to see. I walked inside and smiled, she had fought like hell.

But there was a sharp bitter taste to the air, in my head it sent panic racing down every nerve. I looked to Fate to help me identify the smell, he knew more of them than I did.

“Fear, and Pain. That smell is Reds pain” he whispered his eyes clouding with his own fear.

I walked forward deeper into the room, I searched across the blood spattered mess searching for it. My eyes traveled to the door that led down into the bedrooms, the small grey cell phone lay on the ground. Smashed, by the looks of the crack by Helios’ cane. I crouched down picking it up, he had touched this phone. Which mean the other scent on it, other than Reds, would be that bastards.

I lifted it up and inhaled the scent the best I could. Instantly a smell hit me that made my stomach clench and my mind fill with fury, I would take a wild guess and say it was Helios’s scent. My hand curled around the phone and I felt the weak plastic and glass crumble under the force of my hand. I spun around tossing the shattered bits of the phone against the wall.

“Fate check the computers, see if their still operational. Webb help me move these bodies out of here and down into the incinerator” I growled moving over to the first man. I lifted him up and tossed him over my shoulder.
