Alright guys, here's my final piece for #barsonbingoaugust2021!
I'll write a sappy post thanking you guys for participating later. I've got 26 hours to write this fic so here we go.
The days of bliss had become weeks and then month. Olivia could hardly believe her best friend was right there when she woke up every morning. It must have seemed like a fantasy for Rafael too because every morning he gently had his arms around his lover as of she would disappear. He had taken a job as ADA of the Innocence Initiative: a team of lawyers that worked with SVU on helping wrongly convicted people out of jail and getting them better treatment in prison until their release. He loved the job and was passionate about it. He was still as handsome and charming as Olivia imagined and rocked the courtroom. However today was Rafael's birthday. It wasn't a day he celebrated and the lady time Olivia remember that he did was before he left because she had a surprise party party for him. He, on the other hand always remember her birthday. Last year he was day early with his video call.
Olivia quietly snuck out of bed, got dressed and went into the kitchen. She did have to admit Rafael was a cute sleeper. The way his nose scrunched a he snored was cute to him. He must have had a happy dream because he was smiling.
"Alright Noah we're making blueberry pancakes for Rafa's birthday breakfast. His presents are on the coffee table. Did you finish your gifts and card?" Olivia said.
"Yes I did. Can I help you?" Her son replied as he was putting a bow on the wrapped frame.
"Sure. We've gotta get finished quickly before he wakes up. Rafa doesn't know we're surprising him. The squad is having a potluck lunch for him and then I'm taking him on a date." Olivia said as she was pouring the pancake batter into the pan.
Twenty minutes later, Rafael woke up and stretched. He noticed Olivia wasn't in bed so she must had to hurry to work. He had gotten himself read for work and was about to make a cup of coffee when he noticed his partner and her son standing there with a poster they had decorated.
"Happy Birthday Rafa!" Noah and Olivia said.
"Awww thank you. You are incredible and I love you too so much." Rafael said as he gave them hugs and a Olivia a kiss on the lips.
"We made you blueberry pancakes Rafa! Mom always makes me my favorite breakfast on my birthday too." Noah said as the family made their plate and sat at the table.
"Thank you amigo. Thank you Livie. I love you." Rafael said as they ate breakfast together
"Now that we've had breakfast, you can open your presents!" Noah replied as he put the plates in the dishwasher and took Olivia and Rafael by the hand as they sat on the sofa. "Can you open mine first?"
"Sure I can." Rafael replied as he unwrapped Noah's present. He studied Noah's picture that he has chosen to Frame. The description said: "my family: Mom, Rafa and Me." "Thank you Noah. I'll treasure this forever."
"Oh I got you a few things. One of them we'll save for later but open this one."
Rafael blushed at what his girlfriend ha gotten for later but opened the gift. The first gift she had gotten him was a couples coffee mug set. It was cheesy but Rafael loved it anyway. She had also gotten him a new tie and suspenders set to wear on their date night tonight.
"I love them cariño, thank you for the gifts." He replied with a big smile and kissed Olivia's cheek. "You've made today special already."
Hanging out with the squad for lunch was amazing. Kat, Fin, Amanda and Sonny loved seeing Olivia and Rafael so happy together and even happier they were public with their relationship. It was nice having Rafael back on their team and helping Carisi when he could.
