I'm on Christmas break which means we finish all the unfinished fics I took months on. So here's the final part of Saving You.
"Would you prefer the sofa or our bed?" Olivia said as she was walking her husband Rafael in from the hospital.
"Our bed would be nice." Rafael said.
"Okay. I'm here if you need anything." Olivia said as she pulled back the comforter on Rafael side of the bed so he could lay down. "I'll get you something to eat and your pain meds. I'll change your bandages later."
"Could you just sit with me? I just wanna talk without is being interrupted by all the noises and random check ins in the hospital."
"I'd love to." Olivia said. "So honey, how are you?"
"I don't know? I guess. I feel okay physically. The problem is I don't feel like I've been able to be a good husband and father. I don't feel as productive as so should be with our kids or spend time with you because I don't feel well or I'm behind in work because I don't feel well."
"I know it seems like a long time Rafael but it's been a year and a half and you're still healing and that's okay. You've made so much progress." Olivia said as she put a hand on his shoulder. "It's just a minor setback."
"I've had so many minor setbacks that I just feel like I'm not going anywhere." Rafael said as he sighed.
"You're a walking miracle my love. You survived something horrible and keep pushing forward every single day. I'm proud to be your wife and best friend through this process. I don't want to undermine your feelings but I have to say I'm proud. You fought for your life time and time again. When they took you into surgery, the nurse gave me your ring and your suspenders. It reminded me that I married you because you were the only person who understood me. You wanted to be with me as much as I wanted to be with you."
"You're the person I fought hardest for Liv." He said. "I had to tell you that I loved you and always would. I honestly was afraid when I asked you to marry me. I was afraid you'd have to take care of me forever and I wouldn't be able to love you like I thought you deserved. I pushed myself to walk for you. Besides marrying you, the next best thing in the world is having the beautiful little girl we named Blythe Lucille Benson-Barba. I miss the kids."
"I see your passion in Blythe and Noah. They're incredible little humans. I look into Blythe's green eyes that are full of wonder behind those glasses and see she enjoys life. She's also close to walking soon. Noah never stops amazing me with his big ideas and big heart. He and Blythe have such a special relationship. I'll get ge kids in the morning but for right now, you need your rest."
"I will I will." Rafael said as he kissed Olivia's hand and got comfortable in bed.
"One more thing that I haven't told you. I hadn't really thought about it since Blythe was born. I thought about it when you were taken into emergency surgery. When you went into surgery the second time when you had bowel hemorrhaging,I told you this and I don't regret it. I told you fight for your life as long as you had to strength. If you couldn't, I'd be okay with it. Our daughter is here because you didn't give up. Noah had a amazing dad and I have you as my husband." Olivia said.
"I think my wife is pretty cool too." Rafael said. "You're who I fight for. Hey, before go, lay down and get some rest."
Olivia took off her shoes and snuggled closely to him. Soon they were both fast asleep.
