Olivia has a dream that night about a Christmas past and Christmas present that would change her outlook on things.
Olivia was soon in a deep slumber. She was surprised she actually fell asleep after everything that went on the past week but maybe she really was just that tired. Late into the night, she felt her brain start to form thoughts in her head as she laid in a state of lucidness.
Her mind thought back to Christmas a few years ago. She and a young Noah had spent their morning opening gifts and having Christmas pancakes when there was a knock on the door. She opened it to reveal Rafael in a cozy winter sweater and two bags of presents on his arm.
"Rafa, what are you doing here?"
Rafael gives her a warm smile that makes her heart flutter.
"Merry Christmas Liv. I hope I'm not interrupting your time with Noah but I wanted to stop by and give you both your presents."
"Oh Rafael, you didn't need to do that."
"Nonsense, I wanted to."
"Please come on in."
Olivia walks over to Noah who is happily eating his pancakes as Rafael walk into the apartment and says:
"Sweet boy, look who's here."
Noah quickly turns around to see Rafael standing next to his mother.
"Uncle Rafa!"
Noah jumps from the table and runs to hug his uncle.
"Merry Christmas Uncle Rafa!"
"Merry Christmas to you amigo." Rafael said with a smile.
"A-mi-go, what does that mean Uncle Rafa?"
"It means 'friend' in Spanish."
"Yay, I'm glad you're my friend and Mommy's friend too." Noah said with a big smile.
"I'm glad to be you and your Mamí's friend too, Noah. I brought you and her Christmas presents but you have to finish your breakfast first."
"Okay!"
Noah runs back to his seat and starts quickly eating his pancakes.
"Noah, honey, slow down, Uncle Rafa isn't going anywhere."
Olivia turns to Rafael.
"Rafa please get comfortable, make yourself at home."
"Are you sure Liv"
"Yes, I'm sure."
Olivia gives a warm smile before taking off his coat and putting it on a hook and sitting on Olivia's couch. Soon Noah is finished his pancakes and is sitting with his Uncle, looking up at him with a big smile on his face.
"I'm so happy you're here Uncle Rafa."
"I am too, Noah."
Olivia sits on the arm of the couch and smiles at the two of them. Watching this seemingly simple interaction unfold is making her heart burst.
"Olivia, can I give Noah his present now?"
"Of course."
"Momma, it's an elephant!!" Noah said as he looked in the bag from his Uncle Rafa.
The little boy hugs his new stuffed elephant tightly, beaming with happiness.
"That's wonderful sweet boy." Olivia says with a warm smile.
"Thank you Uncle Rafa! He needs a name. I'm gonna name him Eddie." Noah aside.
"Eddie is a good name. I'm glad you like him. Here's my gift to you Liv." Rafael said as he handed Olivia her Christmas gift.
