He slightly touched the back of his neck and gave her an uncomfortable half-smile, doing his best at staying polite toward the stranger.
"Yes, I am Bai Luo Yin, Can I help you with something?"
He looked at her, there was something familiar about her cat-like green eyes but still, nothing came up to his mind.
"It's me Shi Hui, what? you don't recognize your first love anymore?"
The years only did good to the girl, she grew taller, thinner, fitter, face of a Barbi doll, designer clothes, even her voice became more attractive and feminine if that's even possible.
To put it objectively, back in the day she was and even now she still is the ideal type of every existing straight man.
Twelve long years has passed since the last time he saw her, back then she respected his request and didn't contact him anymore which made him remember her for the better and respect her more.
He himself wouldn't have approached her, why would he? he is happily married, has no interest in others, and starting a conflict with his jealous husband was not a part of his schedule, but since she approached him, now, that's a different story, his dad always taught him that there are ways to push a woman away when necessary, without being rude to her and hurt her, he engraved that important lesson in his heart.
"Wow! Shi Hui! I didn't recognize you at all, you changed so much, how have you been throughout all of those years?"
"I have been just fine, I am the CEO of my father's company and I am engaged to a son of a very wealthy family."
Bai Luo Yin gazed at her, his brain working over-time trying to decipher the true meaning behind her broad smile, she pulled his hand upward indicating him to stand up and greet her properly.
She locked her arms around him in the most natural way, as if they are the ones who are actually married to each other, Bai Luo Yin hesitated but decided to stick to his previous decision and be polite.
He returned her a light short hug and tapped on her shoulder implying her in the politest way possible to let go of him, it took her a while but at the end she let go and took a seat across from him.
"What a coincidence to meet you out of the blue like this, I actually planned to find your new number and give you a call."
Truth be told, it was not a coincidence, not in the least, unless a coincidence means to plan the whole thing ahead with the help of one's company subordinates.
"To give me a call? Why?"
Shi Hui glared on the inside and faked a gracious smile, hiding how offended she was by the question.
So, what if you are married? Even after twelve years your first love can't give you a call?
"I have a business offer for the HaiLuoYin company, I don't think Gu Hai wants to hear from me, his personal feelings toward me are standing in the way and he is about to miss out a great business opportunity so I thought to make the transaction happen through you."
Bai Luo Yin dithered, considering all possible dangers in his head.
She is already engaged and has no interest in me, then what's the harm of listening to her offer? Maybe it has the potential of promoting Gu Hai's business further more.
"What is the offer?"
Shi Hui's stare lit up, that curiosity sparkling in those captivating chestnut pair of eyes, that's all she wanted, her lips wished to press themselves against Bai Luo Yin's soft cheek, just a little more effort and she might get her way.
"My father gave me a hundred million dollars to invest in a company I believe in, by now I looked into a few different companies but none of them met my standards, after I explored Gu Hai's company, I was very impressed with the results and decided to go with it, I just need a middle man between us in order to talk to him and see if he is interested to sign a contract with us."
As a rule, the military man was not one to be impressed by money but thinking about the difference a hundred million dollars can make in one's business made him gasp.
"Wow, a hundred million, and in dollar, no less, that is not a joke."
People who were born poor, will forever be wowed by big amounts of money, even if their status has changed long ago.
That was Shi Hui's line of thinking, most of the times she was right, but not this time, not with this extraordinary man.
Bai Luo Yin's line of thinking was parallel to hers, meaning the two lines will never meet, they will simply continue to go on and on, each in his own respective paved road.
