Two hours and five bottles of old fine wine later.
Kai Jing picked up her sleeping babies and took them upstairs to the bedroom, she adjusted the blanket around their tiny adorable faces and slipped under the covers to get her beauty sleep as well.
Liu fell fast asleep on one of the single sofas in the living room a half hour earlier.
The rest moved to the outdoor sofa sectional in the patio to drink some more and chat.
Yu Qi looked at the married couple with a mysterious smile on.
"You know," he pointed his glass at Bai Luo Yin and Gu Hai's direction.
"Back in high-school we suspected you two are a thing."
Bai Luo Yin almost choked on his drink.
"Wait, really?"
"Yea hehe," Yang Meng admitted, "We even tried to confirm it once or twice but without much luck."
"No shit!" Gu Hai voiced out, "How could you confirm it? "Back then he barely let me touch his hand, let alone his other parts."
"That's right Yin Zi!" Yu Qi moved to sit closer to Bai Luo Yin.
"I was always curious to know, how did he manage to get you to fall in love with him?"
Bai Luo Yin lifted his hands to the sides in a beats-me gesture, his mouth twisted.
"To this day I am still not really sure."
"You know Yin Za, in high school, Yu Qi was scared shitless of Gu Hai haha it was too funny." Yang Meng began ridiculing his childhood friend.
"And you were not??" Yu Qi pulled a face.
"Nah, I was too stupid to know that I should be, haha"
Bai Luo Yin scratched the back of his head in an attempt to figure out if his recollection of the old times is accurate or not.
"Was he really that scary? I never noticed, not even when we first met."
"Was??" Yang Meng tittered with wide eyes.
"Yin Za, he still IS!! But of course, you wouldn't know anything about it, he treated you differentially from day one, buying you underwear, medicines and food, he even fought other guys for you when he barely knew you."
"What do you mean I wouldn't know anything about it?" Bai Luo Yin drew his sable-shade eyebrows together.
"Do you have any idea how annoying I found him at first when he sat behind me and kicked my chair like a childish lunatic? I wasn't scared of him though, just extremely irritated by him."
Gu Hai gripped Bai Luo Yin's shoulder with a little force without inflicting him any pain.
"You know I am standing right here, right?"
Bai Luo Yin giggled at him playfully, he lifted Gu Hai's hand from his shoulder and wrapped it around his neck into a side hug, he kissed Gu Hai's palm and kept holding on to it without letting go.
"Wait, Yang Meng did you say he IS scary? as in Still? Yu Qi you are not still afraid of him, are you?"
Yu Qi's pale face turned scarlet, he shifted his body weight from one side to another.
"Ammm...a little?"
The four laughed like there is no tomorrow, Gu Hai approached Yu Qi and shook his hand to make up for the fear effect he has on the poor actor.
Yang Meng and Bai Luo Yin found yet another occasion for a friendly yet somewhat sticky hug which Gu Hai had to break off after a few long moments.
For a minute there it truly felt like they are back in high school again, and that's how another full year came to an end while a brand shiny new one started.

When Gu Hai entered his office this morning, he spotted a familiar figure occupying his comfy leather chair, he raised his dark brows fairly surprised.
"What are you doing here?"
"Came here to see my hardworking little brother." Gu Yang smirked at him.
He stepped aside letting Gu Hai pass and returned the big leathery office chair back to his rightful owner.
"Little brother how about some booze and cigars tonight? Just you and me."
"Nope!" Gu Hai turned down the offer without thinking twice, "But I appreciate that you thought of me."
"Why not?"
"Do I really need to remind you?" Gu Hai glared at him, "I want to spend that time with Yin Zi, we are both so busy all day long, that the only free time we have to enjoy each other's company is late in the evening or night time, and I am not going to give it up for you."
"Your Yin Zi is going to return super late tonight, probably after midnight." Gu Yang said, sneering at the loyal husband.
Gu Hai thought back on all the times his older brother told him exaggerated lies or played all sorts of dirty tricks on him only with the purpose of extracting some kind of a reaction from him.
This older brother of his lost his credibility long ago, he exhaled and gave Gu Yang a casual once-over glance.
"Why do you say that?"
"Ling Yun told me so, why do you think I flew all the way to Beijing? I came here with him."
As Gu Yang talked, Gu Hai began going through the new contract his company just signed with a north Korean company, one that has close ties to that same country military, if even one tiny mistake is made, they will have to pay a heavy price for it.
Hearing Gu Yang's last statement, Gu Hai's gaze sprang up from the document, he looked at his older brother attentively.
"What did he come here for? I thought he was basically done with Bai Luo Yin's base, wasn't he promoted to be a Brigadier General?"
"He was, and he is done with the base now, after his last visit today, there is this new Colonel coming today, you know, the one that will replace Ling Yun temporarily,"
"So, he is going to show him around, he will introduce him to all the units and they will do their first training with him today, Ling Yun said that its going to last at least until midnight, that includes Bai Lo's unit."
Gu Hai sat back in his office chair and crossed his arms together.
"What do you know about this new Colonel?"
Gu Yang took a seat across from him and shrugged his shoulders.
"Not much, never met him nor talked to him, all I know is that Ling Yun really does not like him."
"Why not?"
