A voice of reason tried making his case in Bai Luo Yin's mind.
Really, what did you expect? In your heart, you maybe consider Gu Hai as one with a superior ability. One that knows it all, understands it all, sees it all, an expert in everything. But in truth, he is still a human- being. A devoted one, a talented, highly skilled one, but still a human-being; not a prophet.
How was he supposed to know that the good spirit will graciously waft over your commander's head, which will lead him to release you two weeks early? He clearly meant that he will be here waiting for you, on the date in which you were originally supposed to return.
Was he supposed to sit at home, wasting his precious time, waiting for you like a housewife without knowing when exactly you will be back?
The voice kept on making its arguments, but none of them succeeded to hack its way through the thick layer of resentment that lined Bai Luo Yin's grudging heart.
For Bai Luo Yin, the vacant apartment signified an act of betrayal.
He peered down at his phone that was peeking out his side-pocket, only to be quickly reminded that its battery died months earlier. Now, grudging his phone as well for being utterly useless; he flung it on the sofa, and raced downstairs, starting his car, driving on sixty-two miles per hour to the HaiLuoYin company.
Tong Zhe stood by the reception desk on the company's ground-floor, shooting instructions at the receptionist while pinning his phone to his ear, fiercely yelling into it. "No! I won't wait another day! You promised us the goods by tomorrow, and I am expecting it to arrive here by tomorrow. I don't care for your excuses, I gave my word to the client, and he is expecting us to deliver him on time too. No, you can't talk to my boss. I am in-charged on this matter; thus, you are talking to me."
He listened to the speaker on the other side with clenched teeth before he yelled again. "If you think you will get a different response from my boss, then be my guest. Talk to him next week when he will be back here; he is out of the city at this time. In the meantime, deliver me the product I paid for, or our deal is off."
Once he caught the sight of Bai Luo Yin slamming his car door shut, and rushing into the company's building. He immediately hung up the phone, ceased shooting instructions, and advanced toward him with large purposeful strides.
"Bai Luo Yin...I thought you were supposed to come back in two weeks."
"They released us early," Bai Luo Yin replied frigidly. "Is Gu Hai here?"
"He is not. He is out of the city, in Shanghai. He thought you will return in two weeks, so, he went on a business trip yesterday; he is supposed to fly back here in a week." Tong Zhe's brows slightly knotted together as he attempted his best to explain and apologize for his boss.
