𝔜𝔬𝔲 had just changed for bed-- Feliciti and Mak had brought you a thick woolen nightgown, explaining it got cold at night-- and were hanging up your blue dress carefully in the closet when you heard the soft knock. It sounded like it had come from the room next to yours, on the other side of the closet, and you brushed it off as either the ship shifting or whoever next to you making noise. Until you heard it again, along with a voice;

"You decent, Princess?" It was clearly coming from the room beside yours. And it was clearly Blind Diamond's voice.

"I-um-yes?" You trailed off weakly, figuring your nightgown was modest enough, but not quite sure why he was asking from his room. If he wanted to come in, why didn't he just... use the door?

"Good," Came the reply, and a shifting noise sounded from the back of the closet. You watched, shocked, as the back of the closet slid to the side, disappearing into the wall. The pirate captain stood on the other side with a little grin. He'd changed out of his dinner clothes too, and was now wearing a simple outfit similar to the one you'd met him in.

"Ah, it works." He said with a pleased expression. "Never had cause to test it before, even though I was told there was a passage here. Took me a long time to find the catch." He pointed to the frame on his side, and you, curiosity overcoming your shock, peeked over to the small decorative emblem that was carved into the wood.

"Should be one on your side too." Without preamble, he stepped across the threshold, inspecting the wall of your side. "Ah, yes, see?" He said, finger brushing over the small carving. You could see now it was a rose. Kid Blink pushed the engraving, and the door slid closed.

"How is it automated?" You asked curiously, and the boy shrugged.

"No clue. One of the builders was fae though, so it may be related to that."

He leaned against the door with a charming smile, and you suddenly became aware that the closet was very small now that the entry to his room was closed. You pressed the rose again, and the door shot back into the wall.

The pirate captain nearly fell flat on his back, managing to catch himself against the door frame with a small laugh. "No love lost, I see." He observed, regaining his footing on his side of the room this time.

"It's terribly improper for you to be in my rooms, you know." You replied with a lift of your chin. "I was merely salvaging what's left of your reputation... little as it is."

He laughed again, a sound that you liked more each time you heard it. "I guess I should thank you, then, Princess."

You nodded. "I won't trouble you to."

"Good night, then, I suppose. Sweet dreams." He smiled at you, and you almost smiled back before you closed the door and turned to go. Before you were even out of the closet you heard the door slide open again.

"What, no goodnight kiss? I'll take a 'you too', at this point."

"Good night, Captain." You ground out, slamming your finger against the rose and letting the door close on his grin. You glanced around for something to block the door with, since you didn't want him having free access to your room whenever he felt like it, but could find nothing.

So instead you closed the closet door and stuck your dagger in the lock, preventing it form opening. That would do, for now.

As you slipped under the cover of your bed, you somehow couldn't find it in you to be as angry about the day's events as you thought you would. Even if he was insufferable, there was something... you wouldn't quite go so far as endearing, but it was close. A little too close for comfort.
