𝔅𝔶 some miracle, you made it unchallenged to the docks. A whole half hour of stumbling through the streets, being pulled along carefully by Blink.
The loopiness was starting to ebb, being replaced by a growing sleepiness that pulled on every limb.
"I'm sleepy," You muttered for what must have been the thousandth time.
"I know, Princess. We're almost there." He whispered as the cobbled street turned into rough wood under your feet and the salty air made it apparent that you'd arrived at the docks.
A shadowy figure stood on the edge of a specific strip, looking up as you approached. It was Mush. Blink scooped you into his arms and carried you into the dingy that waited, nearly flipping it over. He muttered something under his breath as Mush laughed quietly. The boys slipped to the rowing benches, unlocking the two sets of oars and starting to pull. You curled up on the other seat, eyelids heavy and the boat's smooth rocking motion not helping your lethargicness any.
By the time the boys had pulled up next to the ship, long and low in the water with no lights on deck, you were drifting in and out of consciousness, flashes making their way to your brain.
Blind Diamond picking you up and carrying you on board.
Hushed, concerned whispers.
'Your' bedroom door opening.
The prince carefully laying you on the bed and draping a blanket over you.
And then you were out like a light.
*
You woke the next morning with a pounding headache. You let out a soft groan, trying to remember much of... anything, really.
"'Mornin', Princess." A soft, slightly raspy voice said. You peeked open one eyelid to see Blind Diamond sitting on your couch, which had been pivoted to face your bed.
"What..." You trailed off, your headache worsening. "Am I... drunk? Was I drunk?"
He shook his head. "Well, sort of." He amended a second later, standing up and walking over to you, handing you a glass of water. "You were drugged."
Your eyes flew open, and you sat up. "What?"
He nodded. "Yeah. If I had to guess, it would be some sort of thing to make you talk. But they used too much apparently, since you started blabbing to me before they could get you alone."
"Why would they do that?"
"The King is suspicious of any one and any thing who does something he's not planning. Most likely he thought you were working with me to over throw him or something of the like, wanted to find out what you knew."
You'd already jumped to the next topic; "What did I say?" You said, bits and pieces already coming back of the night when your tongue couldn't stop moving.
"Quite a lot." Blink moved to brush some still-streaked black hair from his face, and you noticed his eyepatch was back in place. The little smirk he wore completely backed up your memories.
You buried your face in your hands, completely embarrassed. Thankfully, the prince didn't make too much of it, clearing his throat softly.
"We've, uh, docked along the coast. We can't go into any harbors now, now that my father knows we've gone somewhere. We're only a few miles from the border."
"I see." You nodded, swinging your feet to rest over the edge of the bed. "Thank you for bringing me this far..."
He nodded absentmindedly, keeping a careful eye on you as you stood up. But you were fine; the aftereffects had worn off quickly and the water had only sped up the process.
You examined your outfit and deemed it suitable still. "You may want to wash your hair." You told him, starting for the door to your room to go ask Crutchy if he could spare any provisions for your trek.
*
Half an hour later you stood at the edge of the ship, saying goodbye to everyone on board. Hugs were exchanged, and you surprised yourself by getting slightly teary eyed. You looked around for Blink, not sure how you were going to say goodbye to him, when you saw him leaning against the railing with a tiny, sad smile, in the same casual outfit he'd worn when you'd first seen him. His hair was washed out and still slightly damp, messed by the wind, and you couldn't stop your heart from skipping a beat, and despite yourself you wanted to leave him with a last memory of you other than your babblings of the night prior... and so you took two steps towards him and leaned in.
You saw his visible eye light up with understanding as yours slowly closed, and you felt his breath warm on your lips, and then they touched his and his arms wrapped around you and you could vaguely hear the whistles and cat calls and laughs from his crew behind you but you honestly didn't care at this point.
And you broke apart for air after the longest kiss of your life, and you slowly dropped your arms from around his neck -- when had they gotten there? -- and you looked up at him and breathed, "Bye, Louis,"
And he got that little grin on his face, and he brought a hand up and entwined his fingers in yours and said, "Not just yet, Princess. I'm going with you."
