𝔅𝔩𝔦𝔫𝔨 murmured something in Elvish you were relatively sure wasn't fit to be repeated aloud. His reaction was surprising, to say the least-- hadn't he been threatening to-- going to-- hand you over to the king anyway?

"Take Princess Y/N back to her rooms. If he or his men don't know she's here, don't say anything. Spread the word." Blink instructed Race, who nodded.

"Get her that dress she was wearin' when she arrived. Y/N, you gotta put that back on-- try to look like you ain't a princess, yeah? Don't say anythin' unless I'm there, an' if I say somethin' mean don't take it personally."

His instructions came rapid-fire, and you tried to take them all in as Race beckoned for you. Blind Diamond followed you two out, shutting the door behind him.

"Where's the ship?"

"Fo'ard, slightly to port and closin' fast." Race called.

Blink mumbled something again. "Too close to change direction?"

The boy nodded.

Blink breathed out a long sigh, spinning you back to him with a quick, easy movement and pressing his lips to your forehead. Before you could even register the contact, he was gone, boots pounding up to the wheelhouse to talk with whoever was there. You were staring, you knew, but you couldn't help yourself.

Race laughed a little and tapped your shoulder. "C'mon, Your Highness, you ain't gonna want to be on deck when they catch up."

You frowned a little as you hurried towards your rooms, Race stopping and calling a couple instructions along the way.

"What's going on? Why's the king such a problem for you all?"

"That's strictly b'tween the captain and hi-- the king." Race replied, ushering you into your room. "I'm gonna lock it a'right? Mak'll prob'ly drop the old dress by in a sec. Hide those ones under the bed, yeah?"

You nodded a little, still confused.

"See ya soon, then." Race shot you a cheeky grin, pulling the door closed. It opened a second later, Race removed his foot, and then it closed properly.

You stared at the door, bewildered.

A minute passed. Then two. You realized you should probably hide the clothes in the closet under the bed as well, if the ones you were wearing would also be a problem. Opening the closet, you gathered them up, your eyes darting to the rose button instinctively. Shaking your head slightly, you turned, shoving the bundle of fabric under the bed with a slight pain at the fine fabrics being shoved to such a dusty place.

You closed the closet again, just as the door opened. Mak tossed your old dress in, flashed you an apologetic smile, and left without another word.

You had nothing left to do but change into the dirty old maroon gown you'd arrived in, kicking the other clothes under the bed to join the rest afterwards.

And then, with nothing else to do, you sat on the settee and waited. As you sat, it occurred to you you hadn't gotten the chance to as what L.B. stood for.

(Let's switch things UP)

Blind Diamond flipped a spyglass to Mush, pointing at the steadily growing ship on the waves ahead of them. "There she is."

"I give ten minutes, Blink." Mush said worriedly, glancing at the boy.

He nodded grimly. "And with the speed he's comin' in with, I'd say he knows."

Nine minutes later, as promised, the ship drew up close to the other.

"Comin' aboard!" Called the first mate of the newcoming ship, throwing a few ropes over for Blink's crew to tie.

They did so; they couldn't do anything else. Four men swarmed over the makeshift bridge, each polished and pressed, with one more so than the others.

Mush, and all of the rest of the crew, offered bows. The three men did the same to the boy captain. The fourth offered a hand, which Blink grimly shook.

"So? Is it true? You have her?" The fourth man, the King of Kozmir, said, gripping the pirate's hand tightly and looking at him with narrowed eyes.

Blink knew that he knew. Knew denying it would only bring worse things down upon him, and upon you. So he just said, "Yes."

The King smiled; a sharp, shark-like smile and released the boy's hand. "Well done, son."

Blind Diamond had waited his whole life to hear those words. But as soon as he heard them, he wished he never had.
