"𝔑𝔬," you hissed, poking his ribs secretly. He shifted a bit away from your finger. "Why on earth would I be doing that?"
"I dunno." He shrugged, changing the subject-- but not very far. "Your hair smells like vanilla. I'm not sure how."
"I washed it yesterday, before your father caught us. Mak lent me some shampoo."
"That would do it." He nodded. "It's nice."
"Thank you?" You said, unsure what else to say.
"Yeah." He nodded a little, smiling at you. Zane cleared his throat awkwardly and the smile vanished.
"I think we're here?"
You noticed now that the carriage had stopped and that the boy was rising to exit.
"We leave in reverse hierarchical order. Zane, then my father, since it was my voyage. And you with me." Blind Diamond said to you softly.
"What, because I'm 'yours'?" You said sarcastically as Zane left the carriage.
"Precisely, Princess." He kissed your cheek lightly, smiling. "Now, 'nless you want me to carry you out..." He lifted you up slightly by the waist and deposited you standing on the ground, standing up afterwards.
"Shall we?" You asked, extending your elbow for him to take. He grinned at you again.
"Of course."
You exited to find that the King had explained the 'situation'. The people waiting on the sides were looking at you curiously, and you might have imagined it but there might have been some sympathy in their faces. You avoided looking at anybody as Blink quickly walked your group forward and into the large palace which stretched before you.
You had to admit one thing; the Kozmiran's architecture was absolutely stunning. You actually liked the look of it more than your own palace, even though that sounded slightly treasonous.
"Prepare the suite next to mine," Blind Diamond instructed the first woman who was waiting inside, whom you guessed-- correctly-- was the head of housekeeping. She hesitated, and said in a soft voice,
"I'm afraid that won't be possible, sir, that suite's taken. The wing's nearly full-- on account of the ball. I can prepare the one on the floor beneath?"
The prince frowned a bit but nodded. "If that's the best situation. Thank you," He added as an afterthought. The woman bobbed a quick curtsy and headed off to prepare the rooms.
"What, no dungeon?" You asked sarcastically.
"If you'd prefer, that could be arranged." Blink said, shooting you a look that screamed 'knock it off and remember who the heck is here'.
"No." You shook your head softly, falling back into character. "Thank you, Your Highness." You forced the words from your lips, hoping that it was enough.
He smirked a bit. "Of course... now, come this way. Zane, send for the seamstresses, yeah? Have them come to the Princess's rooms."
"Should I come too? "Zane asked with a smirk, clearly about to elaborate into something you were sure wouldn't be pleasant.
"No need. You can go back to chasing chambermaids 'round your ivory tower, as we're back in the castle now." Blink smirked a bit back at him. "See you." He called back, starting to tow you towards the rooms. You hurried to keep up as he pulled you quickly down the corridor.
Opening the door, he pulled you inside and closed it. "Okay, here's the plan." He spoke quickly. But before he could say anything, someone opened the door behind the two of you. A man stood there, short but lean, with intense grey eyes that looked at the Crown Prince piercingly.
"Tutor Hargreen."
"Kingling." He nodded acknowledgement, and you stopped yourself from giggling at the title-- which you'd always found slightly funny.
"For plan... I'm assuming you mean getting the Princess out of the kingdom?" The tutor said mildly.
"Yes."
He nodded. "I see. Luckily for you, I've prepared one. She'll need to leave before the ball-- tonight. If she's disguised she should be able to leave the country easily. Getting out of the palace should also be comfortable, as long as you pass off her care to guards to allay the suspicions of your father. I can charter a ship to get her to the border. She'll have to make it from there, but she seems capable enough."
"I am." You spoke up, annoyed they were planning your escape without you. But you supposed that letting those who knew the area plan would be wise.
"As you should be." Tutor Hargreen nodded, as a knock sounded. "That will be the seamstresses. I shall make further preparations, and I'll be in touch. Good day Kingling; Princess." With a funny bow, he left, letting in the two people behind the door in.
"He's... interesting," You whispered to Blind Diamond as the two started discussing.
"He's slightly mad, I think. Very smart though."
"If you're sure."
He smiled a bit at you. "I'll leave now, so you can get to work." He addressed the two, who nodded. The prince left, and you watched him go. One of the people, a woman, tsked softly.
"Now, dear, let's get you sorted." She said. "I'm Dia, and this is Jae." Now, with the introductions out of the way, they set to work.
