𝔜𝔬𝔲 were interrupted from your impatient waiting by an impatient knocking on the door, followed by the key turning in the lock. Race and Mush stood there, Mush holding the key and both looking very apologetic.

"He knows 'bout you, Highness, so we've gotta bring y' up." Race whispered.

"Keep your mouth shut." Mush added, which made you shoot him an unimpressed look.

"An'... brace yaself, yeah?" Race said, taking one of your arms as Mush took the other and both 'marched' you up to the deck.

Their words did nothing to reassure you, and when you saw the Kozmiran king standing there, Blind Diamond by his side, you didn't breathe for a good ten seconds. Standing side by side, the resemblance was unmistakable. Both were tall, their jawlines, noses, and lips near replicas of each other. But while Blink's hair was a soft sandy blond, long on top, the King's was dark brown and close-cropped. And the eyes were different too; the King's were a cold grey, completely different from the one peeking out from under the pirate boy's hair.

The boys holding your arms stopped about seven feet from the two, and Blind Diamond stepped slightly closer to you.

"Is this her?" The King ran his eyes over you, and you fought to keep the sneer from your face, instead fixing on a slightly terrified expression, which was easier than you would have liked.

Blink gave a curt nod.

"She's not restrained," The King noted.

"She's just a princess."

The words dropped easily from Blink's mouth, and your mask slipped for a fleeting second into slight anger. You'd bested him in a sword fight and you were just a princess? Then his eye widened at you, unseen by his father, and you understood. He was trying to make this as comfortable for you as he could.

"W-what are you going to do with me?" You said, inserting a quaver in your voice. Again, it came much too easily.

"Ransom." Blink said quickly, but his father shook his head.

"It's not your place to speak," He said coldly, whether to you or Blink you couldn't tell. "And, my dear--" Ah, Blink then, "That entirely depends on your father. None of us want a war, you see... too many lives lost, scars deeper than sword wounds... it would be entirely better for both of us, and all the people, if your father was to just... abdicate?"

"That would solve nothing." You said. "My sister would still become Queen, our kingdom wouldn't go to you."

"Well, yes, but your sister will need to marry, won't she? And it just so happens I know a young man of eligible age... crown prince of Kozmir, in fact. What better way to unite the kingdoms?"

Blink's head snapped around to his father. It was clearly the first time he'd heard of the plan. But he held his tongue still, and that's what really made you afraid.

"She'd never." You said firmly.

"Not even to save her baby sister?" The King tsked softly, stepping closer to you. "Of course, there are more bloody ways. Ones that don't end well for either side... especially yours."

You stood still, not responding to his taunts.

"But, I suppose that will depend on your father's decision. Which daughter... which choice... which rule." The man laughed, an extremely bone chilling sound.

"Bring her to the ship." He jerked a hand at his men, and Mush and Race let go slowly of your arms. One of his men slapped heavy leather hand cuffs around your wrists, and you flinched slightly.

"Wait," Blind Diamond said, and the men paused. His voice did carry some weight, especially on his ship-- even if not to his father. "She's my prize." He said firmly, eyes on his father.

"She needs to be taken to the capital immediately." The King countered, staring back at his son.

"Then I'm coming too."
