I wake up to landos husky morning voice calling me.
L-good morning y/n come on we have to get ready for today
Y/n-okay I'm getting up...ughhhh
Lando walks around to my side of the bed and picks me up as I did not want to get up. We got dressed and headed to the track.
L-how you feeling?
Y/n-extremely nervous
L-awh you will be fine, come on let's head in.
He grabs my hand and we walk into the paddock together, it was early so there wasn't many fans so we got straight into the garage. We talked with the team and made a plan. We headed out for morning warmup which went really well. I was sixth fastest and lando was fourth. After the debrief with the team it was time for pre race interviews.
I got asked allot of questions about being a rookie and what my goals were. They were all strictly race questions nothing with me and lando...thankfully.
We get into the cars and head out for the formation lap. When we get back to the grid I calm my breathing. I clench my hands onto the steering wheel and look around me. It was go time, my first time in a real race in an f1 car. I wanted to make an amazing start to my season and take everyone by surprise.
"ITS LIGHTS OUT AND AWAY WE GO"
I get a blistering start and by the first corner I'm up to third and and lando got an incredible start and was in second...looking good for mcclaren. The first few laps were hectic but the top five which were max,Lando,me,Lewis and Charles managed to keep it clean. The order stayed the same between us for the first ten laps. Then lando overtook max as he ran a little wide I was also able to get along side him and pass him. Me and lando began to pull away as max and Lewis were battling. Lewis managed to pass max and was quickly catching me. My tyres weren't in good condition so I was really struggling for grip. The team wanted me to stay out for a little longer. Lewis was catching me by half a second a lap. Then I pitted and Lewis followed me in. I exited the pit just ahead of Lewis. Lando was still in first with a ten second gap back to max. Then I was ten seconds behind max and Lewis was two tenths behind me. Max pitted and we were all back to our normal positions. I started to push and Lewis was right behind. I went into the corner on the racing line and Lewis tried to pass me on the Inside but backed out. There was ten laps left it was lando, me, Lewis,max. lando was five seconds ahead of me Lewis was two tenths behind me then max was a further three seconds. It was the last lap and Lewis was right behind me, I came out of the last corner and Lewis ran me to the curb and got passed me. I got back onto the track just ahead of max. It finished lando, Lewis, me then max.
I came in and everyone was so happy for me. Don't get me wrong I was so happy to get third in my first race but it was so close to being second. None the less it was a really great performance for lando and I. I get out of the car beside lando and run over to him and give him a massive hug. He lifts me up and swings me around.

L-I'm so happy we were incredible!!!

We do the interviews and podium and get all that stuff done. Then we head back to our hotel room and get ready for the post race party with of few of the drivers and other people working with the teams. We get into the car and head to the hotel where it was being held. Lando drives us there. I swear something like this.
