The unexpected appearance of the future love child of Lucifer and Chloe, threw a spanner in the works. It highlighted just how entangled Chloe was with Lucifer, no matter what happens in between. It left you feeling doubtful for the future you believed you had with Chloe. After all she was in love with you, or so you thought. Mazikeen tried her best to calm your nerves, commenting that he could have been a donor. That this all could be a wake up call for all involved and steer her right back into your arms. Mazikeen seemed to drive the knife further through your heart, her attempts having the opposite effect. The best you could do was confront the impending break up, head on before it all goes to shit.

"What happens to us?" You intercepted Chloe amongst the crowed. The group believed we should celebrate the immaculate conception of the devils love child. If you weren't involved, you would have been just as drunk as the others that surrounded you.

"What do you mean?" Chloe was surprised by the sudden shift in conversation. Honestly, she wasn't expecting this conversation to happen so soon. She needed to wrap her head around it before she could explain it to you.

"You have a child with Lucifer so where does that leave us?" You know how ridiculous this sounded, after all these events haven't even happened yet. All you knew was the pain you felt in this moment, it was happening in the present for you.

"We'll figure it out" Chloes nonchalant approach to your impending doom, succeeded to build your anger. How could this be effecting you so strongly and not Chloe? She was the master of overthinking and assuming the worst, how is this not pushing her over the edge?

"Will we? Because it looks like your future has been mapped out for you" Chloe winced at your outburst, the moment her words left her lips, she knew she had made a mistake. She tried to stay calm for you, to prevent any further damage to your relationship. For the first time in the conversation, Chloe had finally locked eyes with you. She reached across the table and placed her hands on yours.

"Y/N, we need to focus on this moment, right here. I love you" from the tone of her voice and the sparkle in her eyes, you could sense the sincerity. She meant every word and in this moment, that was enough.

"And I love you" a relieved smile took place on her lips, a long sigh escaping as she breathed out. That's all she needed to hear to clear a bad day. You were and always will be the light at the end of the tunnel. She just hoped that you would hold on to this feelings as you navigated your way through this mess. Walking around the table, you pressed a chaste kiss on Chloe's cheek before joining the group.

"But will it be enough?" You mumbled to yourself, resuming your previous position. The only certainty you had was the hangover you will receive the next day. You watched as they mingled, sharing stories and making light of the situation. You had magically avoided Chloe for most of the night, swerving past every obstacle that was thrown at you. That was until she found you, alone on the lounge, drowning your sorrows. She paid no attention to the people around her, setting her sights on you. Ignoring the empty space beside you, she found a comfy spot on your lap. She wrapped her arms around you, nuzzling herself into your neck. She peppered small kisses to the area, causing you to giggle. Just at that moment, Rory pulled up a chair beside you.

"Well aren't you two cute" Rory commented, watching the small interaction between you two.

"Thank you" Chloe was quick to answer, her eyes never leaving you. Chloe's love filled eyes was all Rory could see. Though she would never admit it, her heart swooned at how infatuated Chloe was. Her eyes drifted to you, your emotions telling a different story. She could see the strained smile on your lips and the uncertainty in your eyes. She knew just how you felt for her mother, yet neglected to focus on how this would effect you.

"I'm going to get another drink" Chloe announced, abruptly standing up and making her way towards the kitchen. A wave of relief coursed through your body at the sight of her retreating form.

"Now that she's gone, I want to talk to you" Rory shifted so she could see you straight on. She needed to say this quickly before everything she's ever known changes. All you could do was watch Rory with eager eyes, waiting for her next words. "Look, I'm not supposed to talk about the future, time rules and all that but I hate seeing you sad" she watched as you listened to her words carefully. No doubt that you were reading in between the lines, searching for answers.

"So I am around in the future" the idea of being in Rory's life did bring a certain calm to your nerves. However it was like a Band-Aid to a much bigger issue.

"Hell yeah, just can't tell you how" you saw this coming from a mile away. You laughed at the notion that she would tell you anything concrete. Rory joined in, your laughs filling the bustling room.

"I thought so" there was no malice in your words, as you slowly began to accept what's to come.

"All I can say is trust the process" she gave you a wink while pointing towards Chloe. Those were enough to extinguish the raging fear inside of you. Rory leaned back in her chair, taking a sip from her drink. "Just for the record, I liked you way more than my dad" after what you've heard, she liked a lot more people than her own father. It wasn't very hard to receive a place on that list.

"And now that you've gotten to know him?"

"You're still my favourite" you were yet to understand what she meant by favourite. As time moved on and the events unfolded, it was hard to ignore the facts. That night changed your life and you were thankful that you trusted the process. If you hadn't, you wouldn't have discovered the meaning of Rory's words. You would become her favourite parent, the one that helped her grow, learn to walk, ride a bike, navigate her way through her emotions. You were just as important as Chloe and in the end it all worked out the way it should have. All that fear and doubt was for nothing, especially now that you have a family.
