Travelling with the Doctor was complicated and messy. Each day a new adventure with the possibility of getting kidnapped, experimented on or even death. Not every mission goes to plan and not every mission comes to a close. Something or someone always slips through the cracks, it's the law of space and time travel.

When the TARDIS landed safely in the deserted cemetery, there was only one word to describe it. Safe. You were finally safe from those wretched angels and Amy was able to face her demons head on. So when the door flung open and you were back to where you started, you were relieved. Letting out a triumphant laugh, you made your way into the fresh grass. Amy watched in wonder, her heart filled with love. A moment that neither River or the Doctor have seen in a long time. They smiled at your antics, both happy that we all made it back in one piece.

"So what's next? I feel like kicking ass" your eyes looked at the Doctor

"Well in that case, come back inside and we'll see what happens" he gleefully replied, with a little pep in his step. Everyone turned to follow, including yourself. That's when you felt a hand graze the back of your neck. Your body froze with fear, an unsettling feeling started to form in your stomach.

"Uh guys, is there something behind me?" You yelled to the others. All 3 heads turned at the sound of your voice, any faster and they would have snapped their necks. Their eyes grew wide as they motioned for you to walk towards them. You only made it two steps before being pulled back. It had a hold of your shirt and no intentions of letting go. The group watched you struggle against its grip, all eyes on the figure behind you.

"Stop moving! We'll figure something out!" River called out, panic surrounding the group. While the Doctor thought out loud, speaking in tongues and riddles. Amy took this time to pull River asides catching her by surprise.

"Amy?" There was confusion in her voice. "You need to look at the Angel" River tried to spin Amy around and shift her focus but she was set in place.

"River, I need you to do something for me" Amy pleaded to the side of Rivers head. Those words perked her interest, leaning in closer to Amy.

"I need you to take care of her. I want you to watch over her and keep her safe. The Doctor has a habit of getting into trouble and I don't want Y/N caught in the crossfire" Amy's eyes were soft as she poured her heart out. She pushed back the tears, not allowing all her emotions out at once.

"I don't understand"

"You will, loneliness is not a feeling she should feel. I need her to know that" she placed a gentle kiss on River's head, pulling her into a side hug. Before River could respond, Amy was already making her way to you.

"What are you doing?" You angrily whispered, like the Angel would attack on sound instead of sight. Amy replied with her body crashing into yours. She wrapped her arms around your waist and left mere centimetres between you. Her eyes drowned in yours, all her thoughts and feelings pouring on to you. You felt your fear wash away, all it took was Amy by your side.

"I love you" the whisper escapes her lips. It was the first time she had spoken those words. She was afraid until now to show how she really felt. No better time than the present she thought.

"This is when you want to tell me? A life or death situation?" You playfully joked with her with a cheeky smile on your lips.

"I thought you needed to hear it" her smile matched yours, brighter than ever. She pulled you in for a hug, holding you tightly in place. The Doctor's muttering became louder as he explored every possible outcome. So far none of them would deliver you safely back to the TARDIS. Amy had already done the maths, she was willing to do anything for her love. Even if that meant offering herself as a sacrifice. She pulled back, just to see your face one last time. She memorised the twinkle in your eye, the way you felt on her arms and you seemed to fit so perfectly. You opened your mouth to speak but Amy had other plans. She began to kiss you, your lips perfectly in sync with hers. When you no longer could feel the soft touch of her lips, your eyes fluttered open. Tears were now steadily rolling down her cheeks, and that's when you realised. But by then it was too late.

Amy pulled you from the Angels grasp, spinning you around to where she once was. The action caught the team by surprise which caused them all to lose eye contact. In less than a second, the Angel had teleported Amy to god knows where, leaving you alone in the cemetery. A fitting place to since your love could be dead. Your body fell to the floor, screams filling the crisp air. Your heart shattered to a million pieces which you wish you could project onto the statue. River was quick to scoop you up and drag you back to the TARDIS. Her strength keeping your arms and legs at bay as you kicked and pulled to be back where Amy once stood. Once you were in the safety of the walls of the TARDIS, River sat down next to you and held you tightly. You sobbed on her shoulder, trying to erase what you had witnessed.

"I didn't get to say it" your voice was weak and broken

"Say what, sweetie?" River continued to stroke your hair as a calming technique

"I love you" these words brought back the tears, resuming your previous state. River wiped a tear from her eye, "she knows" she whispered before placing a kiss on the top of your head. "She knows" as one final confirmation.

River tried her best to console you, she held you for hours until you fell asleep. Your dreams were filled with happier moments you shared with Amy. All the adventure, the suspense, the lead up and the moment she said I love you. These replayed over and over in fear that you may lose them. At this moment, you didn't want to open your eyes. In here Amy is safe and happy before the law of time and space travel played its part.
