Katherine Pierce: Return Trip [2]

After spending a few days in this new town, you noticed just how many enemies Kathrine had made while you were gone. Each enemy wanted her dead for a variety of different reasons which worried you endlessly. So when Katherine started to disappear at night, your anxiety was electrified. When she didn't come home at her usual time, panic settled in. Grabbing your belongings, you ran out of the house in search of your girlfriend. You roamed the streets of Mystic Falls until your eyes fell upon a heated argument between the doppelgängers. Observing from afar, you could see punches thrown at venomous words that were spoken. Katherine would be angry if you intervened but it would be better than a dead Elena.

You marched towards the scene, wincing at each connected hit. Violence wasn't your style, however if needed, you would join the fight. You automatically stepped in front of Katherine. You stretched your arm, encouraging her to back down. She stood closely behind you, ready to attack the moment Elena steps out of line.

"And who's this?" Elena questioned, her eyebrow raised.

"Just someone who would like to leave in one piece" you turned around and placed your hands on Katherine's shoulders. Your eyes pleading for her to walk away.

"If Katherine knew her place, this would have ended differently" Elena spat, using every technique to get a rise out of Katherine. Her words worked wonders as she attempted to wriggle out of your grip.

"Don't, she's not worth it" you sternly spoke, hoping to get through to her. Katherine seemed to relax at your words, she no longer resisted your touch.

"The big bad Katherine needs protecting now" Elena held a smug look, truly believing she had won this battle. Katherine went to lunge but you simply placed a kiss on her lips, as a way to communicate 'I've got this'. You calmly turned around, eyes scanning the woman in front of you.

"We haven't officially met, I'm Y/N and you must be the infamous Elena" you offered your hand to shake, Elena happily accepted.

"That I am, I hope I live up to your expectations"

"Oh trust me, you have. However there's something we need to get clear. I'm merely standing in the middle to protect you. Katherine tends to have a bad habit of killing her enemies"

"She's more than welcome to try" this time Elena looked straight past you to Katherine. An invitation was given and Katherine was ready to attend.

"Next time you won't be as lucky. It's not just her you'll need to worry about" You stepped forward, asserting your dominance. Elena followed your motion, now only a few centimetres apart.

"I've heard that you're the good one. You wouldn't hurt me" Doubts crossed your mind but vermin like her need to be taught a lesson. You raised your hand, moving it slightly to the left. A snap echoed the empty streets as Elena doubled over in pain. She reached for her leg, willing the pain away.

"We have a lot in common, you and I. We both would do anything for our loved ones. Even if that meant eliminating the problem" Elena attempted to rise to her feet, another snap was heard as she grasped her other leg. She cried out in pain, hoping to regenerate at a faster speed. "Do not underestimate me, Elena. I have no problem with inflicting pain" Elena looked up at you to find an evil smirk looking back at her. Before she could protest, the snap of her neck silenced her for the time being. You turned to find Katherine, wide eyes and mouth agape.

"New world, new me" you shrugged your shoulders, unfazed by the events that unfolded. You calmly walked away from the doppelgängers body, leaving Katherine frozen in place. After a few moments, she began to catch up.

"That was badass" she commented, a new sense of pride washing over her.

"Thank you" you replied, proud of your own efforts. This bold new you, laced your fingers with Katherine as you walked blissfully towards your home.
