Chloe Decker: Complicated [2]

At first Chloe had been hard to avoid, to you she was everywhere. It made you consider staying at home most days, just so you wouldn't bump into her. Biting your tongue and walking on eggshells had become your new normal, and it pained you everyday. Unbeknownst to you, Chloe hated the way you avoided her. Offering small greetings in replacement to warm hugs, seeing each other everyday to once a week. It frustrated her knowing that she was the reason for the shift in dynamics. She replayed the look of sadness on your face when she brushed you off. The whole ordeal was messing with her head and the result was to push away the one person she wanted most. She has had enough, she had made her decision and it was time to voice it.

She headed straight for Lucifer's club, knowing that you find solace in his penthouse. The elevator doors opened to reveal a tide apartment, not a hair out of place. Her eyes landed on you, taking in the view from the balcony. Her heels clacked against the floor, alerting you to her presence. You swiftly turned around, eyes growing wide at the side. Not even Lucifer's apartment was safe, time to find a new hiding place. A sigh escaped your lips as she back you into a corner. There was no time for a swift escape, it was time to face this problem head on. The journey from the elevator to the balcony felt like miles away, giving Chloe enough time to figure out her first words.

"It's always been you" Chloe blurted out, she mentally scolded herself. All this time and that's the first thing she says, smooth Decker. Her words came as a surprise, you believed she was here to let you down gently. Announce her new found relationship with Pierce as a courtesy to your fragile friendship.

"You sure didn't act like it" you quick to become defensive. You would not allow this woman to break your heart for a second time.

"Deep down I knew what I wanted. I just didn't know how to turn down Pierce, and for that I am sorry" she gently placed her hands in yours. You could see the sincerity in her words.

"So how did he take it?" You couldn't help but ask, the idea giving you a happier disposition. A smile formed on Chloe's lips, knowing what you wanted to hear.

"Oh it totally crushed him" her tone of voice calmed your nerves, earning a whole hearted laugh. Your laugh was contagious as Chloe joined in. She pulled you close to her, enveloping you into a hug. The smell of her perfume made you smile, you have missed this. When you pulled back, your eyes locked with her crystal green. Before you could stop yourself, your lips were on hers. Chloe didn't hesitate kissing you back, soft lips moving in sync. When it was time for a breath of fresh air, you pulled back for good.

"I could get used to this" you say with a happy grin, one that reached your eyes. Chloe returned your smile, assuring herself that you were hers from the start.

"Me too" she sweetly replied, leading you towards the elevator. As the doors closed, you couldn't help but think of all the doors that had opened.
