You just had the most magical night with the woman you love, Betty Cooper. You danced with each other and sang as loud as you could. Your night was filled with laughter, lingering touches, happiness and the occasional flirt. A part of you truly believed that Betty was falling in love with you. This thought was quickly shattered by the conversation you had that same night.
"I had a fun time with you Betty, it was one of the best nights of my life" your smile reached your eyes, Betty swore she saw the stars in them. This action caused her to smile in return.
"Same here (Y/N), I really needed this, thank you" she reached out and gently touched your arm, her eyes looking back and forth between your lips and eyes.
"I have something to tell you" you blurred out, ruining the small moment.
"You can tell me anything, I'm always here for you"
"Well Betty, I love you more than a friend. I always have and I think I always will" your eyes averted to the ground, nerves coursing through your body. Her hand retracted from your arm as she started to pick at the skin on her hand.
"Oh, um, thank you?" Was all she could say, this small response shattered your new found confidence. You could feel the tears welling up in your eyes, you tried your best not to let them show.
"I'm sorry, I thought you felt the same. My bad, I guess" you took a few steps back, wanting space between you two.
"I love Jughead (Y/N)" And with that final blow, you gave her a small nod of understanding before walking away from the girl you love. The tears began to fall as you made your way back to your house. Heart broken and humiliated.
