"Can we just please talk about this like normal people?" Her voice was laced with concern, a squeaky undertone could be heard as she pronounced each word
"Kenzi I'm not even close to being normal" you never raise your voice but this question, rubbed you the wrong way. You shouted, avoiding eye contact at all cost. You could see her flinch in the corner of your eye.
"You were once" she said sadly, lowering her voice
"That was before I turned 16, when we used to steal wallets from tourists and think that we were invincible. I'm not that person anymore. I don't even know what I am anymore" your heart warmed at the thought of your past but ached at what you have done in the present
"That person is still inside of you, whether you are light or dark fae. You may have these new bitchin powers but you are still the same old Y/N from the streets" she lightly hits you on the arm, her attempt of lightening the mood
"I've hurt people Kenzi, innocent people. I can't go back"
"Then don't go back, move forward and become the fae I know you can be" she offers a small smile, your face was soft as your eyes sparkled with tears
"How could you still be my friend after all of this? I've lied and I've hurt people I love, that's a good reason to hate someone"
"I don't hate you, it just hurts knowing that you kept this from me for years. I was literally adopted by fae, I know what's up, if there was anyone who would understand all this, it would be me. And for the other thing, if I had known, I could have helped prevent it" she moved her arms with each statement
"I know, you're right, I just didn't want to put you in danger. As it is your aligned with a Succubus that has no side, all hell would break lose if you were friends with a dark fae. We don't mess around with those sorts of things" you stepped closer to her, a strong feeling surfaced but you pushed it back down
"Well I don't care, I know who you are and you wouldn't let anything happen to me" she takes your hand, rubbing her thumb across your knuckles
"Thank you for talking to me like a normal person" a smile finally graces your face, Kenzi smiling at the change of attitude
"Thank you for treating me like a normal person" you kiss her on the forehead, giving her a strong hug, relaxing into her arms.
