Harley Quinn: Old Friend

You spent most of your life minding your own business, it was the safest way to live in Gotham City. If you were stupid enough to add your opinion or go snooping in places you didn't belong, you would mysteriously turn up dead. Seems like a logical way to live your life, except when one of the most dangerous women lure you in with her charms. You moved cautiously through the crime scene, making sure to keep your enemies close and the Joker closer. However you were quickly thrown to the curb when Harley was presented with an ultimatum, it was either you or the Joker. You weren't surprised by her choice, however you vowed to never get tangled up in that woman's mess again.

Your front door slammed open, the sound bounced off the walls until it reached your ears. You pushed yourself off the lounge, reaching for your hidden gun under the table. You pointed it towards the noise, holding your finger over the trigger, ready to shoot the uninvited.

"It's me" Harley announced, peering her head into the entrance way. "You don't need the gun" she continued nodding towards you

"That doesn't calm my nerves but nice try" you offered a sarcastic smile, directing the gun at Harley's head. She raised her hands and slowly walked into view, your eyes never leaving hers.

"I need your help" Harley's charming smile brightened her face, she was holding on to the memories she shared with you

"Why on earth would I help you?" You narrowed your eyes, your brain clicking through the possible scenarios. Each one ended with a bounty on your head and your mysterious death

"I've gotta kid" Harley blurted out, hoping you would lower your weapon. You scoffed at her, rolling your eyes. The thought of mini Jokers running around made you feel sick.

"Oh please, like I'm gonna fall for that" as an after thought, your eyes scanned the room for children or a sneak attack from one of her goons.

"No seriously" she debated, leaning past the wall and yanking a girl into view. An audible "woah" was heard from the girl before she was placed between Harley and the gun.

"Hey there" Cassandra offers an awkward wave, searching for the nearest exits, just in case plan A doesn't work.

"You've got to be kidding me. Harley what have you done?" you yell, waving your arms about, quickly forgetting the weapon in your hands. Cassandra ducked and swayed with the motion of the weapon, making sure that if it went off, she would not be in the flight path. You noticed her movements and lowered your gun, placing it in a safe space that was easy accessible just in case they try anything.

"It wasn't me, it was her fault" Harley insisted, pointing to the girl in front of her. Cassandra looked between Harley and you, trying to figure out why you were so hostile.

"Real mature Harley, blaming it on a child" Of all the things you have witnessed, you never thought Harley would involve a child into her mess.

"No really, it was her. She swallowed the diamond I'm after" You stood there dumbfounded, the kid was just a common thief with no street sense.

"You think you've heard it all and then you show up" You gave up, slumping onto the lounge. There was no winning this battle, you had to help keep this child safe and Harley alive.

"So are ya gonna help?" She rocked on her heels, batting her eyes at you. Her persuasion technique was not the best but it never failed to work on you. You groaned, regretting what you were about to say.

"I'm helping her, not you" Harley clapped her hands and bounced in place, she was elated to work with you again, even though you don't feel the same way. You rolled your eyes at her, wishing you hadn't agreed. "Once this is over we can all go back to never crossing paths again" Harley's smile deflated, a movement that didn't go unnoticed. Sadness tugged at your heart at Harley's sad expression, you really did miss her.
