Chapter 6:

"Come in."

Laxus pushed open the door to his grandfather's office.

Makarov sat behind a desk stacked from top to bottom with papers, muttering something about finding a beautiful secretary.

Laxus waited for him to look up.

He did.

Makarov's face went from surprise to cold hatred in seconds.

"You. What is it?"

"Kinana and Erza are here to see you."

"Who?"

"Your children." Laxus said with a tiny hint of disgust.

"Oh," Makarov got off his chair, "What do they want to see me about?"

"They wouldn't tell."

Makarov paused and turned to his young grandson. He studied his clear face with his steady determined eyes, strong jawline and the lightning shaped scar.

Makarov's face turned to dissapproval.

Years ago, Makarov had dreamed of his precious grandson becoming the next school master but that had been before Laxus had gone on a rampage- flirting, wrecking school property, picking fights, bullying kids...

Makarov watched as Laxus shifted from one foot to another, released a huff and looked away.

The old principal still couldn't forget the pain of seeing his loving grandson turn into a completely horrible monster.

He was ready to trust the young man again but what if Laxus messed up this time as well?

He would never forgive himself and Makarov didn't wantthat.

"I'm busy," The head master said finally, "Tell them I'll be down in ten minutes."

Laxus just nodded, not meeting his grandfather's eyes.

"And Laxus?"

The blond boy stopped and turned around again.

"Keep them company till I come down there, my boy."

Had his grandfather just called him that? What was happening?

Laxus closed the door to his grandfather's office behind him.

"What did he say?" Jellal asked.

He'd been standing in the hallway all this time.

"He said to keep the company. He'll be down in ten minutes." Laxus replied, not going into any details.

Jellal nodded.

Laxus led the way downstairs. They entered the living room again to see Erza talking quietly with Kinana who nodded with a serious expression on her face.

"Hey."

The girls jumped.

"Sorry," Laxus apologized, walking back to where he'd been standing, "My grandfather will be down in ten minutes, Till then, I'll keep you ladies company."
