A/N: Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand I'm back...

It's been so long I had to go read one of my chapters again... I'm really sorry for not updating but I'm  back now!!

Chapter 97:

"Natsu, I'm fine, really." Lucy smiled at the worried look on the cute boy's face.

"Are you sure, Luce?"

Lucy's heart skipped a beat at the serious tone he'd suddenly taken.

She swallowed before nodding, smiling slightly and hoping to reassure him.

Natsu didn't look too convinced. He'd been a little shy and soft a few minutes ago but that was gone now. His slight frown wouldn't leave either.

Lucy bit her lip as she watched Mirajane floating around behind the pair.

Anymore of that and the team would definitely get suspicious.

Why had she spilt the beans to the girls? Why had she impulsively kissed Natsu in the first place?

Her life was bound to get complicated after this.

She sighed.

"What's wrong? Does it hurt somewhere?!"

Lucy couldn't help but giggle at Natsu's worried tone.

"No, I'm alright... A little happy even..."

The confusion on his face was priceless.

Mest stepped out of the room, his hands trembling and face worried.

He took a deep breath and tried to relax, grip still deadly on the tiny lacrima gem in his possession.

He had to get the news to Bacchus and Jellal.

The Council was planning something that went deeper than any normal School Competition.

Mest had to see the others and get the information to Jellal.

This would blow the others away.

A slight wind ruffled the hair of the dark wizard.

He sat on the high branch of a solitary tree in the middle of a large meadow.

Stifling a yawn, he let his gaze scan his surroundings. A few more seconds in this place and a blast of his life-absorbing curse would suck the living out of the beings around him. Before then. he would leave. He had to.

How long, he wondered.

How long would he have to walk around a space that would forever be threatened by his existence?

He glanced up at the sky, feeling the constriction on his heart alerting him to the deathly curse that was about to work it's magic. He was alive for only two people and his selfish desire to be near them was the only reason he was still prolonging the misery of those around him.

His brows knitted together in frustration, a feeling he rarely felt even though his situation should call for it more times than another's.

Slowly allowing his head to bow, he raked a trembling hand through his hair. In a few seconds, this patch of land would have all of its life sucked out of it.
