Okay, no small talk...

Chapter 63:

Lucy shifted in her sleep.

Her body melted into her comfortable, soft bed.

Her hair was a mess, she knew that. But she couldn't bring herself to open her eyes yet.

Slivers of sunlight sprayed around her cozy room and with her curtains close and her room noiseless, Lucy wondered why they didn't sleep in the day. It felt way more pleasant.

Especially with that warm, heavy hand draped over her midsection.

Her eyelids fluttered open.

Warm, heavy...

Her face flushed in moments.

"Natsu!!"

The blond turned around just as the pink haired boy sat up, looking like his thoughts were all scattered.

"Wha-," His eyes were wide open even though dark circles surrounded his eyes, "What's wrong, Luce?!"

Happy flew up from his place at the foot of the bed, "Lucy, what's wrong?"

Lucy took a deep breath, slightly embarrassed about the scene she'd just made.

Wait.

What was she thinking?

"Uh, well," She stuttered, her cheeks still flushed pink.

Natsu looked concerned as he crawled slowly over and Lucy backed away.

"Natsu, don't come close like that. I-"

Lucy's heart almost stopped when she couldn't feel the bed below her. The blond beauty fell straight off.

Groaning, she looked up at the pair of heads that blinked from above her.

"Natsu!" She growled, ready to pounce.

"But, Luce," Natsu dodged her, "I didn't do anything wrong!"

"Yeah," Happy flew away from her next lunge, "What's up with you, Lucy?"

Lucy stopped for a moment, trying to catch her breath.

A perfect morning.

Ruined.

Looking at Natsu's innocent expression, she wondered if it was her fault.

The pink headed dragon slayer scratched his head, "You okay now?"

"Yeah," Lucy sighed before slumping into her bed again, "Sorry about that."

Of course, she'd be apologizing...

Natsu jumped off the bed, "That's alright, Luce! Maybe it's all that tension for the Council's tests!!"

Lucy thought about that and a wave of apprehension hit her.

It was true.

The Council tests were only a week away.

The past two months or so, the students had trained like crazy.

Combat classes with Loke had been fast-paced and deathly.

Most times, almost all the students had had to go to the nurse's office.
