Chapter 35:

"Lucy!"

"Huh?" Lucy snapped out of her thoughts to look at her friend, "Levy?"

"Who are you thinking about?" Levy asked, her hands on her hips.

"No one!" Lucy's face blushed.

Levy raised an eyebrow, "I always ask you that, Lu. Calm down."

Lucy gave a nervous laugh, "Oh yeah."

It was Tuesday. The day Natsu had to take Lucy out.

The blond was nervous now. She wasn't sure what she saw Natsu as and it confused her. Breaking hearts wasn't Natsu's thing but Lucy knew her closest friend was dense personified.

It would never go through his thick skull if she were in love with him.

"Lu!"

Lucy blinked, realizing that she'd fazed out again.

"I'm so sorry, Levy!"

Levy sighed, "Is it that date thing?"

"Huh?"

"Oh, please, Lu. You've been avoiding Natsu like the plague today. The poor guy is just plain confused."

"I'm not avoiding him."

"Oh really?" Levy raised an eyebrow, "Then why are we having lunch out in the campus when he's in the cafetaria?"

Lucy looked down at her sandwich and then grinned back at her pretty friend, "Levy..."

Levy rolled her eyes, "Just tell me about it..."

"Girls." Erza's authoritative voice sounded from behind them.

The girls turned around to see the gorgeous redhead make her way down to them with Juvia.

"What is it, Erza?" Lucy asked her.

Erza gave them a serious expression, "Magic. It's here."

People pushed and jostled each other as they stood packed inside the main hall of the school.

Laxus stood in the front, with his arms crossed.

Behind him stood Jellal, Gray, Eric, Natsu and Gajeel.

To his left stood the three students who followed him around, calling him their leader.

Makarov stood on stage next to Mirajane and Erza.

He signalled for the school to calm down and they did.

"Children, we have just received word that magic has mixed with the air around the land of Fiore. Many people have already accepted the change and their bodies have adapted to the change by allowing magic to enter and give them new abilities. When the change comes..." He paused ",don't fight it. Whatever we do, we do it together."

The hall errupted into a cheer.

Suddenly, there was a shift in the air.

Laxus felt it.

A surge of incredible power had just drifted in.

Very few people noticed.

Mirajane and Erza looked up with Makarov.
