Chapter 57:

Levy waited as Gajeel stared into her eyes with his red, piercing ones.

They hadn't talked or even met properly after the accidental kiss. Mostly because she'd avoided him like the plague.

Right now, he looked serious as he blocked her way with his tall, slightly muscular body.

"We need ta talk," He repeated, "It's important."

Levy nodded as a slow began to creep up her slender neck, "T-tell me, Gajeel."

He frowned at her stutter.

She swallowed, "What's wrong?"

"I'll tell you what's wrong," His face looked extremely annoyed as his tone began to slide into rage, "There is no way I'm partnering with that pink headed clown for next period. Who does he think he is? That suit wearin' bastard! No way in hell!!"

Levy's jaw fell open and there was nothing she could do to stop it.

Gajeel glared down at her, "Whaddya gapin' at?"

The blue haired bookworm could only mutely shake her head.

Gajeel huffed, "I want ya back, Shrimp."

Levy froze, her beautiful eyes widening.

"I can't stand any other person partnerin' wit me... Especially not that flame breathin' idiot."

Levy looked up.

Gajeel raked a hand through the wild mane of his dark hair.

He was really irritated.

Why'd he have to get Natsu when Levy'd been right there?

Somehow, it seemed unnatural to be paired with anyone other than the short, pretty girl.

He glanced down at her to see large, eyes staring back at him.

"Wha...?"

She blushed before turning away, "Nothing. Um, we could ask Mr. Loke."

"Jus' call 'im Loke."

"Okay."

He stared down at the messy top of her head.

Gajeel hadn't been able to think of anything else for the past few days.

Levy had always been in the back of his mind and it was weird how much he'd missed her.
