Let us begin...

Chapter 45:

"Hey, Shorty."

Levy whirled around at Gajeel's voice.

The tall, metal-pierced boy came walking out of the staff room, his expression stern.

Levy blinked as she waited for him to reach her.

She'd just bailed him out of detention by lying. Was he mad at her for helping him?

Gajeel towered over her when he stopped.

Leaning down, his face was just a few inches from her own.

His eyes narrowed, "You don' need t' have my back. I do the savin', got it?"

Levy blushed involuntarily.

Gajeel's eyebrows rose.

Juvia bit her lip.

Maybe she shouldn't.

Maybe tomorrow...

Any time but now!

The beautiful blue-haired swimmer stood outside the library, fiddling with the dark pink skirt that stopped mid thigh.

Juvia was contemplating going inside the library and returning Gray's bracelet to him.

Seeing her crush and talking to him, though, released a hundred butterflies in her stomach.

Gray had walked in the direction of the library and Erza had shoved her the same way.

Juvia wished she had someone with her but at the same time didn't.

Maybe, tomorrow would be the day she'd return his bracelet.

Yes.

Having made up her nervous mind and with a breath of relief, Juvia turned around to see Gray Fullbuster walking right toward her.

Gray walked over to the library after having run back to his locker to retrieve a book.

The handsome boy yawned and let his eyes droop half shut.

School was a pain.

He wouldn't come at all if it weren't for Natsu and the other idiots who made his life unbearably confusing.

Lately, the ice mage had noticed his tendency to remember Juvia Locksar at the weirdest moments.

When he got ready for school, when he beat Natsu up, when he got detention...

The dark haired man shook his head in an attempt to clear it.

As he came closer to the library, he noticed a rather pretty girl stand near the door with a rather cute, almost distraught expression on her face. She held onto something small as though her life depended on it.

Gray walked over to her and nodded, "Hey, Juvia."

"G-gray..."

Gray stopped.

Somehow, he knew that she wanted to talk to him.

"Um, " She smiled up at him and her face immediately lit, causing Gray's gut to twist.

"Juvia wanted to return this to you."

Her slender hand reached out to give him a small bracelet.

Gray's breath caught.

He'd been searching all over for that particular one and had been in a foul mood for quite a few hours since.

Taking it from her slowly, he put it on, unable to speak.

Sensing that she was still waiting, he looked up into her deep blue eyes.

"Thanks," His voice was thick, "This one was from my dad..."

He watched her eyes widen and then condense with concern.

His heart constricted when he saw the emotions play across her face.

"So," He cleared his throat, "Where'd you find it?"

"Erza found it and gave it to Juvia," She said in the cute way she used third person to speak.

Her eyes were focused on the ground and Gray took the moment to look at her appearance.

Gorgeous would be an understatement.

Lyon, the lucky bastard...

Somehow, Gray wanted to talk to the cute girl a little while longer.

"So," He began again, rubbing the back of his neck, "You and Lyon, huh?"

Juvia looked over at him with widened eyes.

He cursed internally, hoping he hadn't upset her by triggering anything personal.

"I mean, um, Lyon's dating you. Right?"

Juvia's eyes saddened and she seemed to have an internal battle with herself.

Gray's heart beat a little faster with hope.

Something he didn't appreciate or try to stop.

"Juvia doesn't like Lyon that way."

Gray almost whooped.

"Oh!"

She looked up at the excited tone in his voice.

He cleared his throat, "Oh."

"Well," Gray smiled at her, unable to stop himself, "Alright then, Juvia."

Juvia blinked before blushing, "Goodbye, Gray. Juvia is sorry for taking so much time."

"No problem at all." He said as he walked past her.

Entering the library, he couldn't stop the huge grin that tore across his face.

Kinana stood at her desk with a rather scared expression.

Gray calmed down before stopping to get his book. It wouldn't be a good idea to get on Eric's bad side.
