Four
Jade awoke in the morning feeling something she hadn't felt in her entire life on earth. It filled her from the inside, lessened the cavernous sensation in her chest and made her smile for the first time in years.
She felt anticipation.
She threw back her covers and realised something that only made her smile wider. For the first time since she fell, she hadn't dreamed of her Tearing.
On her walk to her lectures, there was an unfamiliar yet not entirely unwanted spring in Jade's step. She knew it was to do with Jordan. She desperately hoped he was in class today.
She wasn't disappointed when she finally reached the lecture hall and the tall, thin frame of a certain mysterious Jordan Knight stood, leaning against the doorframe, head down and hands stuffed into the pockets of his jeans.
When he looked up into Jade's grey eyes, she felt her heart lighten and she smiled. At first, he grinned back, the smile like a beam of light on his face. But his good mood faded quickly and he dropped his head again, heading into the lecture hall with a shake of his head.
Even though the smile slipped from Jade's face, her mood was still brighter and her broken spirits lighter throughout the lectures.

Jade sighed as she departed from her last lecture, unexcited at the thought of the essay she was expected to write before the following day. Her book bag slung over her right shoulder seemed to be weighing her down as she walked down the street on her way off campus.
She jumped when someone tapped her on the shoulder and she whirled around, unimpressed that someone had touched her without any warning.
Her mood softened somewhat when she found that it was in fact Jordan, who had invaded her space. He grinned and Jade suddenly felt as though she could possibly be happy again. "Hi, Jade," He said, "I don't suppose you would want to come out for coffee with me?" He asked, a pink blush creeping up his cheeks as he spoke.
Jade smiled, "I'd love to."

"Why do you keep checking your watch?" Jade asked as she took another sip of her caramel latte.
"What? No reason." Jordan assured her with a grin. Jade had quickly come to like those grins that made his blue eyes sparkle and hinted at just a little mischief.
"You don't have anywhere to be? No one to meet up with?" She asked slyly. She awaited his answer with held breath, curious as to how attached he was.
He lowered his mug and locked his gaze with hers, "I don't have a girlfriend, Jade."
She smiled and blushed for the first time since she fell, hiding her face in her mug. When she lowered the latte again, she noticed Jordan leaning towards her, his bright blue eyes locked on her lips.
Jade's eyes drifted closed and she took a breath in anticipation, but the sound of Jordan leaning back caused her eyes to snap open.
"I'm sorry," He said quietly, avoiding her gaze, "I've got to go."
