Twenty-Four

Jordan left. Jade refused to think about it and instead focused her energy on devising a plan of attack on Heaven. "The only way I can see it working," She told Lela and Mason, "Is if we lure them out somehow."

"How would we manage to do that?" Riley asked as she wandered through to the kitchen.

This was where Jade failed to answer. She found it frustrating to know what needed to be done, yet seeing no possible way to do it. "I don't know." She replied, leaning back in her chair and stretching.

Jade stood and entered the elevator, heading down to the basement to train. When she entered the room, she saw that Mikayla Divverson was training with Christian Kingston. Mikayla seemed to have a mild dislike for Jade, and Jade was unsure of the reason.

So Jade was naturally surprised when, as she hit the punching bag again and again and again, Mikayla slowly approached her. When she was standing but four feet away, she said, "You need to get out of the complex."

Jade paused but didn't look at the seventeen-year-old girl. When she resumed her assault on the canvas, Mikayla spoke up again, "I mean it. We all know what's happened to you and no one should have to suffer through that. Losing your best friend and your true love in the course of a month? That's got to be hard. But you need to get out and get your mind off it."

As much as she hated to admit it, Jade knew Mikayla was right. Staying shut up in the building constantly gave her nothing to focus on, aside from the past events that threatened to entice the Darkness back into her life.

She offered Mikayla a smile, which the girl ignored, and headed upstairs to shower and change. Some fun will do me good, she thought. Once dressed, she called goodbye to Lela and Mason and drove down to the nearest nightclub.

She was dressed appropriately for the occasion, in a strapless white dress that contrasted with her now curly hair nicely and a pair of white Converses. The trainers made the outfit more casual, but Jade needed to ensure that she could fight in any circumstances.

When she pulled up to the club, she felt, for the first time in weeks, as though she could be happy.
