Eighteen

"Lela! Where's breakfast?" Jordan demanded when he emerged from the elevator, freshly showered after training with Darren and Maddy.

"It's coming! Hold your horses!" Lela yelled from the large kitchen.

"Well hurry it up!" Maddy called from the stairs she'd apparently jogged up after training. "I'm starving!"

"Did you even shower, Maddy?" Mason asked with a laugh. Jordan watched as Maddy shook her head, a smile on her face. She didn't even care that she stank of sweat and chalk.

"God, what is that smell?" Asked Jade as she walked out of the kitchen, fanning the air in front of her nose.

"That's just Maddy." Mason told her, sitting at the large table sipping her coffee.

Maddy stood in the middle of the living room, pouting with her hands on her hips. "Come on, guys! Lay off!"

"Well maybe you should have showered before forcing your smelly presence on us." Jade suggested with a shrug. Jordan was only slightly surprised at how quickly Maddy and Jade had grown close to each other. They were like sisters now.

"Breakfast's ready!" Lela called from the kitchen. Everyone in the building, Darren excluded made their way, almost running to the kitchen. Sitting on the counters and waiting to be eaten were at least ten different kinds of breakfast foods.

Bacon and eggs, omelettes, French toast, boiled eggs, muffins and pancakes. As well as oatmeal and some kind of protein shakes. Jordan laughed when Jade made for the French toast and buttered it liberally.

Jordan plated up some pancakes and followed Jade to the table. Sitting across from her, he marvelled at her beauty. She thought of herself as plain and boring, but he only saw the loveliness of her being. Her black hair had developed a beautiful waving curl from the Australian heat and her skin was now gloriously tanned. There was a light spattering of freckles across her nose, the smokiness of her grey eyes was mesmerizing and her shortness of stature was cute.

He couldn't hold back the sigh that escaped him. He blushed when he realised that Jade had heard him and looked up. "What are you thinking?" She asked him.

How much I love you. This was the thought that first came to his mind. However, being unsure as to how Jade would react to the confession, he simply told her he wasn't thinking of anything; simply staring into space.

Jade shrugged and continued with her meal. When Maddy joined her with a chocolate protein shake, the friends discussed who was next on the list. Jordan looked over at Mason and Lela, who were laughing at something on Mason's laptop. He could see that Lela cared for Mason, and he hoped that if Mason turned her down, she did it gently.

God knew the woman had suffered far too much to be hurt again.
