I think I'm getting to the end of this book! I know what I want to happen, but I keep filling up chapters before I get there! Let me know what your thoughts are! <3

Thirty-Eight

Jordan watched with a mixture of hurt, confusion and disappointment while Jade and that man he'd never seen before kissed. It had taken the larger part of the strength he had left for him to get up and search for Jade. And now his quest ended in this heartbreaking display.

Jade's eyes opened and immediately went wide. She pushed the man off her and stared at Jordan, fear in her beautiful grey eyes. He couldn't hide the hurt he felt when he said, "Jade? What is this? Who is this?"

She took the man's hand in her own, breaking Jordan's shattered heart further, and walked forward. "This is Luke-Lucifer. He was the reason you were possessed and he was sent here to earth to kill me, but..." she trailed off, seemingly unsure of how to continue.

"But I saw her beauty, through the Darkness that cloaked her and I couldn't bring myself to lay a harmful finger on her. I was struck the moment I saw her. Surely you can understand that?" asked Luke.

"You do know what he did, don't you?" Jordan asked Jade in disbelief.

"They weren't his own actions, Jordan," she said, "he was possessed, just as you were."

"Then why did he continue to cause havoc on earth? He sends demons after innocent people and he's constantly attempting to break back into Heaven! He's not a good person, Jade."

"He's not the mastermind in all of this! There is a higher power at play here. He's called the Father, he runs the Satanic Realm, not Luke."

"That doesn't make him innocent, Jade. He's an evil, cruel, sadistic-"

"Then why did he save you, Jordan?" she demanded, getting angry, "if he's such a terrible person, why did he help us continue our uprising even though he knew it would mean certain death for him? He brought me back after you left! I almost killed myself, Jordan! If the Fallen hadn't been there for me afterwards, I would have starved! And Luke brought me back. It's because of him that we're here!" she shouted. "He regrets everything he's ever done to hurt me and he saved you knowing that if you lived, his chance with me was considerably less. And now he's willing to give himself up to the people he betrayed because if my happiness means being with you, he wants that for me, he just doesn't want to be around to see it."

"You're going to stand there and defend him? I thought you loved me?" Jordan said incredulously.

"I do!" she exclaimed, "But I also know that he's not as bad as we've been taught to believe!"

"And you know this how, Jade?"

"Because I know him."

"How do you know he's not been lying to you? He's Lucifer for god's sake!"

"I trust him, Jordan! That's all it comes down to!"

"How can you trust him? I don't believe this, how on this earth can you possibly put your faith in that man standing beside you?" he shouted, frustration and hurt building inside him.

"I love him, alright?" Jade yelled, tears running down her face. She jerked her hands through her hair several times, pacing and breathing heavily, "I love him, Jordan."

I love this chapter! It's so powerful and emotional! Tell me, do you feel the emotions, or is it just me?
