The night was a bit cooler than the others, meaning everyone was covered with a light blanket. I wore a black fleece blanket, which Daryl had found for me when we were still trying to find a place to stay. Lori had been livid when Daryl had given me the blanket, but he didn't care, so I kept it anyway. Daryl wasn't a mean person by any means, but I believe, he would've kept the blanket for himself if it was either keep it or give it to Lori. Daryl wasn't a fan of Lori, so he and I understood each other when we gave each other a look every time Lori said something bitchy or off hand.

Anyhow, since the blanket was a little warmer, I was glad that I still had tank tops I could sleep in, and basketball shorts that weren't given to Carl when he started getting bigger. I had given him almost all of my basketball shorts, but I did keep two pairs. I planned on finding more for him and myself when I went on another run. I'd probably try to find some for Harry as well, since he was getting bigger, and he liked the ones I had and the ones I had given Carl.

Everyone else seemed to be sleeping as well. I could hear Harry's light breathing from his spot on the top bunk, where he had been staying for the last couple of nights because he had a bad nightmare and he was scared to be away from my side when he was sleeping. The chirping of the crickets outside didn't seem as loud as the low moaning of the walkers, but even still, neither of the noises were that loud since the prison kept most noises to a minimum. Even when someone shouted within the prison, anyone outside wouldn't be able to hear them, and if they did, it wouldn't be that well.

I had a small reading light on, while I read a few chapters of a book I had found right before the group found the prison. The book was beaten up, but the pages weren't too torn, so I was able to read each page with ease. Reading before actually going to bed seemed to help me sleep better, even after the world had went to shit. Sometimes I wondered if I'd ever sleep without a book in this reality, which made me feel glad that I always had a book in my posession.  I always kept at least one book in my bag, just in case we had to leave in a hurry and I had to run without grabbing my other books. I knew books weren't that important, but sometimes literature was some of the only things that made this world not suck so bad.

After three chapters, I decided it was time for me to try and fall asleep. I placed my worn out bookmark in the exact place I stopped reading, before closing the book and laying it on my bag next to my bunk. I flicked off my reading light and placed it down on top of the book, making sure it wouldn't fall later on and break. I had a very hard time finding a new reading light, so now that I finally found one, I wasn't going to chance breaking the damn thing. If I broke it, I think I'd cry over it. I pulled the blanket over my shoulders, wrapping my arms tightly around the blanket and closing my eyes.

I let my mind wander to Rick while I was trying to fall asleep. I wondered where he slept, if he slept. I wondered if he was cold, or if he was in any danger. Even though I was somewhat annoyed that he obviously still had feelings for Lori, I couldn't keep myself from worrying about him. He was important to me, not to mention he had two kids who were worried about him; three if I included Harry, even though he wasn't biologically Rick's son.

I was pulled out of my sleepy thoughts, when I heard quiet footsteps outside of my cell. I opened my eyes and picked up my head slightly to look outside of the cell. My eyebrows furrowed when I realized it was Carl standing in the doorway of my cell. Sitting up, I rubbed my eyes slightly and beckoned the boy to come over.

"What's wrong?" I asked, after the boy sat down at the foot of my bunk.

"I had a nightmare. I'm sorry if I woke you. I-I'll go back to my cell." He stuttered, sniffling quietly.

"You didn't wake me, Carl, I just laid down to go to bed. Do you want to talk about it?" I asked, making him sigh.

"I had a dream that Dad died, then the prison was overrun and only my sister, Harry, and I made it out alive. You had almost made it out, but three walkers came out of nowhere and we didn't have any ammo. You sacrificed yourself for us, and we watched you be eaten. We went searching for Dad, and that's when we found his chewed up body, so that's how I found out he was dead." He said, his voice cracking every so often.

"That'll never happen, Carl. Your dad and I, the group, we won't leave you all on your own. You'll always have someone, and I promise you that." I murmured, pulling Carl into a hug.

I kissed the top of his head, letting him calm down in my arms. Soon I heard his breathing even out, meaning he had fallen asleep. Carefully, I pulled him up to lay next to me so he'd be more comfortable. Once I knew he and Harry were both sound asleep, I rolled over and pulled the blanket over myself again, before I finally closed my eyes and allowed myself to finally fall asleep...
