A few days had passed, and everything seemed to be going fine. Well, everything was fine, until I heard gunshots outside of the prison. I quickly hid Harry and Judith in a cell, before I ran outside to help the group. Outside, there was a box truck that had been driven through the fences. I had been shocked when I seen everyone shooting at the walkers outside of the fence that was surrounding the prison.
"Where's Rick?" I asked, as I stood at the fence shooting walkers.
"There!" I heard, and I looked over to see that Rick was outside of the fence.
My eyes widened and I went to run towards the exit of the fence, but before I could make it to exit the fence, I was grabbed by Glenn.
"You can't go out there. Rick would hate us if we let you out there with the walkers." He said, as he tried to keep me from running out into the field.
"If I don't, he'll die." I replied, but Glenn simply shook his head.
"No," He began, but we were quickly surprised when we seen Daryl and his brother come out of the woods,"It seems you got your wish, he'll be safe after all." He added, and I simply sighed in relief.
After all of the walkers had been destroyed, I waited by the fence for Rick and Daryl. As I waited, I did glance around and I seen that Axel had been killed. Whoever brought the box truck must've killed Axel.
"Rick!" I exclaimed, quickly letting Rick, Daryl, and Merle inside of the fence.
Once Rick was inside, I went over to him and wrapped my arms around him. I could tell from Glenn's face that he wasn't happy to see Merle, but I wasn't going to leave Daryl's brother outside of the fence, especially in front of Daryl. If Daryl seen me do that, he would be absolutely furious with me. I had become close friends with him, so I didn't want to disappoint him more than the group already had.
"Come inside. It's safer in there." I murmured, as I lead the three men into the prison.
Once we were inside, Rick and Glenn had agreed that it would be best for Merle to be locked into a cell for safety. I didn't know how much I agreed to that, but I wasn't going to comment. I didn't want to argue with Rick more than I did already over the last few days.
"It was the Govenor who did this, wasn't it?" I asked, causing Rick to nod.
"I didn't expect him to do this, but now I know he is after us, we have to come up with a plan to protect our group." He replied, and I sighed.
The group and I continued to talk about what had happened because of the Govenor. Carol was upset over Axel, but it made me wonder if she had a thing for him or something. I mean, I knew he seemed to have a thing for her, I just couldn't quite put my finger on it. Besides, she did deserve to be happy, but I didn't really see how she got so close to him so fast.
Glenn had gotten heated over the argument. He was angry that Rick didn't want to ambush the Govenor, but I really didn't see the point. I believed the Govenor thought we were going to ambush him, so he was probably already ready for us to do so. Glenn claimed that Rick wasn't completely ready to be the leader anymore, and I really didn't know if I disagreed with him or not.
I knew Rick wasn't up to his full potential right now, but he didn't need Glenn making it any worse. Glenn was mad that we kept Merle, which started somewhat of an argument between him and Daryl. Carl had decided to stay in the room with Harry and Judith, since Rick and I didn't believe he needed to be a part of the conversation yet.
"Everyone just chill out. We need to calm down, regroup, and be logical about this, or we're going to be sloppy and end up getting ourselves killed." I said, causing everyone to grow quiet.
"You haven't been out during the last few runs, and you weren't at Woodbury, so you don't even know how bad it is." Glenn retorted, causing me to frown.
"Maybe not, but I was here keeping the children safe, Hershel too, and I don't need you patronizing me. I seen the damage that was done by the Govenor today, and I know there's worse coming soon. I know things are going to get a lot worse before they get better, so don't think that I'm being too slack on this. I an trying to do my best to keep us all safe and alive, but if you want to go out there and be suicidal, go ahead, I'm not going to stop you, but you're not going to be bringing anyone else on your suicide mission. So, either go and do what you want, or shut your mouth and learn to work as a group with logical reasoning again." I spat, and this time everyone stayed silent.
"I like her. Grimes picked himself a good one." Merle murmured to his brother, as Daryl smirked.
"So, you're okay with Merle staying here after what happened?" Glenn asked, his voice lower than it had been originally.
"I'm not going to allow anyone to lose their family, even if that family is a piece of work. You're going to have to learn to live with him, or ignore his existence. Either way, he's staying, and that's final. Now, everyone get on with your day. We'll talk again tomorrow." I stated, before walking out of the room.
I was tired of Glenn's accusatory attitude. He would never understand how it felt to lose family, just for them to come back and everything to feel like it was getting better again. I hadn't really felt that way before during the apocalypse, but I did before the world went to shit, so I understood what it was like to be Daryl. I wasn't going to let him lose his only family because of anyone in this group...
