Somewhere between the little palace and grandmother's house, I must have fallen asleep. I didn't even wake when I was picked up by my brother and my mother must have changed my clothes. When I woke up the next morning, I was in my bed and my nightclothes as the last thing I remembered was getting in the carriage to go home.

Prince Nikolai wanted to go horse riding, but he couldn't possibly know where I live. I thought

I got myself ready for the day as I ate some breakfast, we didn't have much since we lived in a village. Still, we made do with what we had so we went about things as usual. That is until we heard a horse or two outside and I looked at the door. My grandmother and I walked out as Prince Nikolai walked forward seeing me standing by my grandmother. "This is where the masked girl lives?" Nikolai said in surprise as I smiled knowing that I liked being referred to as the masked girl. He walked over clearly recognizing me as I stood with my grandmother and he took my hand kissing it but then he took my other hand as he looked at the AM and I got that wrist free as I put it behind my back.

"AM? General Kirigan has a K in his name." Nikolai said as I nod, "Well, most of us don't know his whole name so maybe it's a clue." I said another cover for him, I didn't need to do it but I did out of being nice. He led me to the horses as I knew I didn't know how to ride very well. "Um..I don't really know how to ride very well...the last time there was an incident." I said remembering my drunk kiss with the darkling.

He led me to the horse and gave me a few instructions as he let me ride on his horse. When we left I went out but I could feel the stares of eyes. you'll never let me go, no that might be you but there are risks. I thought as we went. Prince Nikolai showed me around a few places but I hid my head with a cloak because I figured it was best not to be seen. Still, the places he showed me were amazing. I was unhappy though and he noticed "Is there someone close to you in the first army?" Nikolai asked as I looked at him surprised. "There is, Corporal tracker Nicolas Stark." I said as he nodded while we talked. "How did you get past the first army trying to recruit you?" Nikolai asked as I knew we were never home when they were around. "We are always busy, I also tend to my grandfather." I said

Nikolai nodded as we went around but I saw it was starting to get dark. I wondered if I should go inside but I saw my brother and cousin at the pub as I stopped by there and got down as Prince Nikolai saw me. He looked "I should return you home." Nikolai said, "This is my brother and cousin, they can take care of me from here." I assured him as he seemed to understand. "Good night..uh I'm sorry I never asked your name." Nikolai said as I realized I never gave it "Amira." I said as he nodded, "Good Night Amira." Nikolai said

We went into the pub once he was out of view and I went in to play pool with Aiden as Adrian was there with me. I was able to win a few rounds and get some money as I sighed. I was relaxed but my soulmate was always close, his initials said he was there watching this morning. I looked seeing them there now as I knew he was here now and I turned to see him in the doorway.

Once my brother was done and Adrian was done we headed for the front, I saw him watching as we approached but I kept walking past him. I was not giving in to him so easily like other Grisha I had heard had. "Amira" Aleksander said as he followed us and I kept walking. I could feel that there was more to this visit than normal as I saw it was dark and sighed. "Maybe you should talk to him." Adrian said, "It's not going to be that easy." I assured him as I kept walking.

"Amira, stop." Aleksander said as I stopped and looked back "What do you want? I need to return home." I said as he walked over and stood in front of us. "You should have been inside before dark, it's dangerous now." Aleksander said as I looked at him, seeing his worry in his eyes and I was contemplating everything. "What kind of danger?" I asked in front of my cousins, "If you all return back you put your family at risk, the danger I told you was coming is here." Aleksander said

I knew we could crash in a place tonight, we had the money for it but there was the issue of how much I could expose myself. I knew my light was going to be the best protection from those other vampires. "The ones in the fold, they can't escape." I said as I looked at him and glared a bit. "Unless you turned others in your time." I accused

He put his hands up in surrender to my accusation but he did not deny it. I realized the threat wasn't really to my family's life, it was to mine. They were probably women...Grisha women who thought they would be his soulmate that he'd turned. "I need to get somewhere safe, but you need to stay away from me for a bit." I said as my brother and cousin led me to a place we would crash for the night.

Once we checked in, I watched out there seeing vampire women lurking around. Aiden walked overseeing it was only three for now. "How old is he?" Aiden asked, "four hundred years...this is only the beginning." I said as I knew my days of going to the pub were starting to be numbered. "They'll come for me, to eliminate the obstacle to him." Aiden put his arm around me and pulled me close as we watched. "I won't let them hurt my little sister, you are the one who is a threat to them and so is dad." Aiden said

That's what you want...a vampire soulmate who can walk in the sun with you. I thought as I closed my eyes.

I tried to rest some but it didn't last as within minutes we heard yelling. "Come out, girl! Fight us, if you want him!" One yelled up where we were. I knew they probably could see me in the room but I knew that they can't come in without an invitation. We'd asked Nico's parents if we could stay as they let us. Aiden put me to bed but they were persistent but that wasn't the worst. Just before daybreak, we heard shooting then screaming as those vampires ran off. I got up and ran down, worried some human just got out there when I saw him.

I would know that brunette hair, blue-eyed man anywhere as my best friend I grew up with. Corporal Tracker Nicolas Stark as I smiled at him and then before I could even consider if Aleksander was still there I ran and hugged him. "Nico," I said as I saw him put his gun away before I reached him and hugged me back as I reached him.

"Amira Silina" Nicolas said as he whispered in my ear "Dual Summoner of my heart." I blushed as he looked at me and then cracked a smile. "I knew you'd blush." He teased and I was glad he was not serious as I gave a relieved sigh. My life was complicated enough as I looked at him. "What are you doing here? First army is scouted everywhere." I asked as he smirked, "Well, Prince Nikolai talked with the King and I got assigned to protect a Grisha girl with your description until she decides to join the 2nd army." Nico said as I laughed a bit. "My apologies corporal but you will be doing this awhile. I refuse to go." I said
