Ayanda's POV
"that right there, is the heartbeat, loud and healthy" she chuckles. Honestly I cannot even fake a smile at this point.Don't get me wrong I'm happy, I'm truly happy but I don't even know how I'll Tell Muzi, I tried calling him but he didn't Pick up. Should I perhaps drop him a text?
"I couldn't carrying my first child to full term, would that possibly create any complications?" she wipes the gel off my belly. We walk back to her desk while she prints out the sonogram pictures.
"you're too far long for any complications, the scan reveals that you're 24 weeks pregnant" okay I'm shocked, I've been carrying this baby for 6 months without even noticing any changes in my body?
I mean I might have gained a bit of weight but I didn't notice it much since I'm mostly wearing dresses, as for my belly I'm chubby so it's very hard to tell if it's just my normal belly or a pregnancy belly.
She prescribes medication for me, vitamins which would help supply the necessary vitamins that the baby might not have been getting for the past 6 months.
I ask to postpone the rest of the tests for another day because really I just wanna go home and process all of this.
The drive home was short, I didn't even notice anything along the way, my mind was flooded with thoughts. I finally arrived and decided to make a quick tuna and mayo toasted sandwich before heading up to bed.
I take sleeping tablets, sent a text to both Nathi and Muzi. "I'm 6 months Pregnant" then switched off my phone.
I woke up with the mother of all headaches, the room is dark but the curtains are still open. I close the curtains then head to the shower, I take a long hot shower then slip into leggings and a simple top.
I go downstairs, the TV is on so I assume that Muzi is home. "hi" I greet then head to the kitchen without even looking at him. "so this is how you greet a family member you haven't seen in a while?" it's Nathi, so I take it Muzi ignored my sms. "Nathi, what brings you here?" he looks surprised from my question, "I'm here to make sure that you're okay" okay so you're telling me that this man drove all the way from KZN just to make sure that I am okay?
"how are you feeling?" he looks genuinely concerned. I sigh, he takes my hand and leads me to the sitting room. "I don't know Nathi, I genuinely thought that this would be the one thing that'll save my marriage, clearly not, I sent Muzi a text the same time I sent it to you, you're here, all the way from another province, he isn't here, he works just 15 minutes away but he didn't bother himself with coming here, I'm pregnant, I'm going to be a mother, what if i... "
before I could even finish he pulls me into his arms and just like that I'm crying, mind you he is still in his white formal t-shirt." listen Aya, God trusted you with this baby because he knows how much of an amazing person you are, you'll make a great mom and you'll raise a child as kind and respectful as you are, embrace this Maqwabe, this right here is the light you need in your life" he says while wiping my tears and my snot with his handkerchief.
"so have you eaten? Would you like something to eat?" I ask, he chuckles, "I'm not letting you cook in the state that you're in, let's order something then watch your favourite movie, I'll probably regret this but why not"
I laugh and playfully hit his chest "hey! What are you trying to say about my movie choice?" he laughs "I'm not saying anything but women and their romantic or sad movies, it's depressing" we laugh, "I'm starving!"
"what do you feel like eating?" he asks, well I'm a sucker for seafood so why not "seafood?" I ask, a bit skeptical considering that most people hate seafood. "oh at least there's something that we agree on" I guess he's one of the few who like it too, he orders from his phone while I Pick a movie.
We end up watching "resort to love" my favourite movie, it's about a girl who goes to work at a resort after her failed music career, she works there as an events singer and one day she met her ex fiance who ditched her a few days before their wedding to move to a new place, the ex fiance was there for his wedding ceremony. The girl fell for the fiancees brother whom she was only meeting for the first time.
The food came while we were watching the movie we dug in. "I wish woman chose happiness in reality like they do in movies" Nathi says this. I look at him briefly then I just nodd. "yeah, I mean clearly the other brother appreciates her more than this guy who is undecided and chose to leave her before their wedding, women tend to always go for the wrong brother" okay I feel like this isn't even about the movie anymore but I chose to ignore it.
"anyway, thanks for dinner, I think I'll Head to bed now, are you sleeping over?" he chuckles sort of like he is in disbelief, I'm honestly trying to escape this conversation. "no I'll book a room at the hotel, call me if you need anything" with that said he Stands, kisses my forehead then walks out just like that.
I'm honestly confused, why is he all worked up about this?...
