It's Sunday, I woke up early, cleaned the house, made breakfast then got started with preparing Sunday lunch, all this while he's still upstairs snoring.
I've decided to prepare oxtail stew, dumpling, couscous salad and steamed veggies. He walks downstairs while I'm mixing the dough for the dumpling, he's wearing my favourite white robe! He notices the frown on my face and just chuckles in his deep sleepy voice, he comes and wraps his arms around me from the back then plants a kiss on my cheek, "morning beautiful" now if it was anyone else calling me "beautiful" I'd be so upset because I just don't like meaningless petnames but with him I know he genuinely means it.
I blush, "morning sleepy head, I made breakfast, it's in the microwave" he plants another kiss on my cheek, then spanks my ass before walking off, honestly this man lives to work on my nerves. "Uhamba nini?" I jokingly ask, "this evening, I need to drive down to KZN to finally meet with MaSithole and hear what she has to say, even if It means doing it without Amahle" I sigh, I guess I didn't think this day would come, I was hoping he'd stay for longer.
"Hawu, Yindaba?" he asks while sitting on the high chair about to indulge in his food. "I just didn't think you'd leave so soon" he clearly hears the sadness in my voice, "look sthandwa sam, I need to stop running away from my problems, the sooner I fix my life, the better, so I can be able to do right by you and our children" okay I'm confused. "what do you mean Nathi?"
He ignores me and takes a bite of his bacon, "I could get used to waking up to this, you looking all sexy in that tiny robe, breakfast ready while you're cooking up a storm for lunch" he chuckles lightly. I just smile, deep down I know I'd give everything to live comfortably with this man, knowing he belongs to me and me alone.
"Aya, can I ask you something?" okay that sounds serious, "ungasivuma isthembu?" I sigh, not this again, so he still sees me fit for second best? Men will seriously use you, now I can tell that he is here with me because of his marital problems.
"no Nathi, I will not settle for second best" I respond without looking at him, I'm now cleaning the counter to distract myself, "Aya Ima phela Angithi siyakhuluma" he begs, I throw the dish cloth on the counter and look at him. "look, I just want all my kids to grow up in a stable home with both parents present, ngiyakthanda MaGumede, kodwa naye uSbusiso deserves a stable home" I just sigh, this is so unfair, why the heck did God allow me to fall in so deep with this man?
"I might consider it when you put it that was, but only for your son's sake, although I doubt your wife will agree to this" I put the bowl of dough in the large pot with boiling water. "she either agrees or leaves, she won't take my son with her" okay, now I'll be labeled as the evil step mother? Things we do for love.
Once he is done eating he helps me with the dishes then goes back to watching formula1, you know the saying "Sundays are for lovers?" well not in this house clearly, Sundays are for formula1. My mum called to ask that Wami stays over for the week so I need to drive down to soweto maybe tomorrow to bring her more clothes and nappies.
It's midday and I'm already dishing up. I serve him, with the tray, warm damp dish cloth and his drink, you know the standard procedure. He thanks me then I fetch my food and sit next to him.
We say grace and dig in. While eating I think this is the best opportunity to ask what I've been longing to ask since this weekend started. "what are we doing?" he takes a sip of his drink, "you'll find out later this afternoon, please get ready by 4pm" this man! He says all this while his eyes are glued on the tv screen.
"Mntungwa... What's the dresscode?" he's still paying no attention to me "ibamuhle nje wena mama ufake lezicathulo zakho ezibomvu" he's referring to the new Steve madden shoes I bought on Friday so I take it he means I should dress up. I know I said I'm head over heels in love with Zulu men, or this Zulu man in particular but honestly that tribe of men have their own way of romance, did he just ask me out on a date while watching formula1 and eating idombolo paying no attention to me? I don't know how to feel. I'm sulking again.
"yaz lento yakho yokuthi uzohlezi ucasukile isiyangicasula" he's looking at me now and his eyes are very intimidating, I simply look away. "ungahamba uyozilungisa I'll wash the dishes" then again his eyes are glued on the screen again. I don't know but his authoritative side makes my panties wet, don't judge me!
I put my plate on the coffee table then head upstairs. I text my sisters for outfit suggestions, I only told them I'm going on a date but didn't tell them with who. I finally opt for a white dress, it's above the knees, free flowing but only tight around my breast area, revealing a nice cute cleavage. I install my Peruvian pixie wig then apply red lipstick to match the shoes. It's spring so I dont need to overdress. He knocks, tries to let himself in but it's locked.
"MaGumede, you've been in there for over an hour, our reservation is from 16h30" he sounds frustrated. "I'm almost done" he sighs and walks off. I fix myself, take a few snaps for my sisters then I walk downstairs, I don't find him anywhere in the house. I walk out while trying to call him only to find that he's already in the car. I laugh as he walks out but he looks really upset. "Ngiyaxolisa Mntungwa omuhle" he doesn't even respond, he opens the door for me, the we drive off.
From what it looks like, we are headed to Sandton, he looks so clean in a slim fitted formal Grey pants, black Versace la Medusa shoes, a white shirt, tucked in and looking clean. He has shades on now as we drive. His phone rings "I'm 5 minutes away" he keeps quiet "I'm so sorry thank you for holding it down, you know women..." he says this and looks at me. "thank you my guy, I owe you one". After sometime we find parking and yet I guessed it, we are at Mandela square. "we are here..." he says, he seems a bit out of place.
He holds my hand and we walk towards "papa's on the square" a very cosy restaurant with cute aesthetics. But the restaurant looks closed, I say this because the outside sitting area is empty which is unusual, that's what people love most about this place. We walk to the entrance and we are met by a waiter who casually greets Nathi then opens the door for us, and my oh my....
