The ride wasn't so bad, Nathi is very chatty so the hours spent with him are always worthwhile, we are close to our destination and I'm feeling a bit hungry but I'm not about to tell him to stop, he has done enough for me already.
We drive for another 10 minutes then I see him driving into a shopping complex. He parks "asambeni siyodla" he then gets out of his car to come and open the door for us, he unbuckles Ntokozo and carries him then I take her bag before we walk off. "what do you feel like eating?" he asks me "anything really" he chuckles "you sure?" I smile and nodd.
He leads me to some restaurant, judging by the music and the aesthetics, it's an African cuisine restaurant. "table for two please",then we are led to our table. We take a set and we are given menus. "what are we having mama?" he asks me, did he really just ask me what he will eat?
"I feel like some dumpling and tripe" he smiles and nodds, he orders and while we wait he is busy playing and talking to Ntokozo who also seems very invested in their interaction she is also smiling. I'm tempted to take a few snaps and while I'm doing so we are disturbed by someone clearing their throat. When I look up it's a light skinned female, beautiful long legs, she's colored, she looks very familiar I just cannot recall where I have seen her before.
"Nathi..." nathi looks at her with so much annoyance. "Lihle... What do you want?" she smiles "this looks cosy, isn't she your brother's ex wife?" she knows me so clearly I know her from somewhere, "you mean the brother that you're fucking?" Nathi says and immediately seems to regret it because he sees that my expression changed. "Lihle please excuse us" she chuckles, "you've always wanted to be Muzi, always going after what belongs to him, try finding your own" she then walks off, I wonder what thst was about.
We eat and chat for sometime before continuing with our drive. We finally arrive and my family is settling at a nearby B&B, they'll come by tomorrow for the main ceremony. It's busy here everyone is moving around cooking and men are doing what men do at these events. I just greet the family and then go up to the bedroom that Muzi and I use, it's going to be a long weekend because I don't have much of a choice but to share the room with him.
"maQwabe..." oh great! He's already here, "hi Muzi" he takes Wami and I put away my bags, I sit on the bed and there's awkward silence. "how was your trip" he asks "good..." that's all I manage to say. He goes out with Wami and I take a quick shower before retiring for a nap.
I woke up after an hour then went downstairs, assisted sis mandisa and everyone else in the kitchen with chopping the veggies and cooking dinner.
While busy at it there's a bit of commotion in the sitting room. I rush there because I can hear Muzi's voice and he has my child so I need to take her. "why do you always want to play the hero in my woman's life?" Muzi shouts. "she is no longer yours!" Nathi shouts back.
"Lalela la we Nkosi, she will always be my woman, she came into this family through me, she is here because of me, this ceremony is happening because of my child!" and now the room is filled with a lot of the family trying to stop what's going on "which child are you referring to?" oh no...
"Muzi this isn't worth it" I try to stop them since I see where this is going. "the one that I made with the same woman whom you keep trying to save, I had sex with my wife and bared a child, some things that you cannot relate to, things like having a wife!" Muzi claps back, oh no where's my mother in law!
"oh cut it you're not man enough, Lihle left you because you weren't man enough, she went for someone man enough who she bared kids for, Aya left you because you werent man enough and her life starting getting a lot better, you're toxic!" nathi says, my mother in law is finally here.
Muzi laughs," funny how I'm not man enough yet you drove all the way to bring my wife here for a ceremony held for MY child, one that you don't have, yet I am the one who isn't man enough"okay this is going too far.
" which child? The one I had to create for you?..." he stopped after realising that he might have just said more than he should've. He looks over at me and at this point I cannot help it. I am in tears, "what... What did you just say?" Muzi asks, Nathi does not respond so Muzi turns to me "Aya? What is this bustard saying?" I look down "I asked you a question DAMNIT!"....
