To say that my first performance was a challenge being that I had to sing an opera like song will be like abusing my creativity. The Punishment team performance was the greatest challenge yet. We had so many dynamics that's to the overly creative mind of my dear beloved son, little Cai. To say the truth, I think Woozi kind if influenced Cai somehow. I am not complaining but if you ask any member of SEVENTEEN, they will tell you that Woozi turns anything he touches into gold... real gold. They believe in his musical talent so much that if they are competing and they get to be grouped with him, they feel like they are in heaven. Weird, right? But that is SEVENTEEN for you. Cai has the same traits. Sometimes I think that he is Woozi's twin brother from another mother.
The white boys' team made Eugene proud even though he was not part of them. When they walked out of the stage, they hit his back, I guess as a sign of good luck or something, weird traditions but who cares. I think the emcees knew that we were bringing a box office worthy performance on stage because they went ahead to give a not that long but a long speech of the previous performances as we set the stage for our master piece. I never brag about any of my performance but this performance was worth the praise...kind of.
"Are you people ready?" Cai asked us. Is he really asking something like that at a time like this?" I will take that as a maybe. Lets kill this thing. I believe in us. On the count of three" we were to make our cheer... yes, we have a cheer also. We are in K-pop land and we do what K-pop community does. Cai decided to count in Chinese, apparently for the respect of the week's challenge being Chinese ballads.
We had a plan of action that we managed to come up with. We decided to start with The Boyz' Spring Snow where we decided to pay the guitar mostly. The stage opened up with five high chairs in the middle of the stage. Miki, Cai, Tem, Korn and I were the ones singing, in harmony to the song. They sang the first verse and the chorus as Eugene played the guitar. We were aiming for an accapella with a guitar as an accompaniment. We also decided to use the darkening of the stage in order to make the atmosphere a mysterious one. We changed our music by darkening one part of the stage and concentrating the light on the next person to perform. The next song was Polaris by Dreamcatcher or Minx. Here I played the violin while the rest sung the song. We went for a background not so loud orchestra to accompany the violin sound. Our orchestra was different from the one my pink team used because, it played Chinese musical instruments. After that we performed The 8's Side by Side and we went for the Chinese version of the song. For this, we decided to act it out. I played the piano, Eugene went for the Zither while Tem was the boy asking Miki to accept his love. Korn and Cai didn't appear on stage but they sung backstage. Then we sung Eric Chou's Unbreakable. For this, we came back to sing in a group but this time round we were all spread across the stage in a way to make the V shape with me in the middle, playing the piano. The main sound that makes this song unique is the piano so at times, the light was turned deem on the rest while it shone bright on me. We even had the moveable stage when different people were singing. When we finished, we sung the last song which was NCT DREAM's Be there for you. For this song we brought back the orchestra but they could only be heard and not be seen apart from the reflection on the top of the stage. After we sung unbreakable, the stage went dark for five seconds, and then came back with us all six standing on the stage together with microphones before us. For the song, we decided to sing again in harmony, while changing some parts to be a duet, quartet and even a trio.
This was a memorable stage performance truth be told. How we managed to pull this through, I can never bring myself to explain it. I had fun while also panicking inside. I was afraid that we will mess up or even forget what we all heartedly rehearsed. To say the truth, when people never applauded for us immediately during the Pink Girls' team performance, I was sad but this time round it reminded me of my auditioning day. When the curtains were closed abruptly, just to leave the audience in awe, not knowing was is happening, was just as crazy as the person who came with the idea, Cai. He is the one who told us to sing our best and let them judge us behind our backs.
"You guys I am tired. Is it mandatory to go to the audience again?" I asked while laying my head on Tem's shoulders.
"I think it is a must being that you are a team leader." He said while adjusting himself so as to make me be comfortable. "Let's go, I will help you drag your heavy body." He said and held my hands as he dragged me, literary, to the audience. I didn't want to know where I was sitting. All I wanted was to sleep of which I did very much.
The judges walked on stage to give their comment. The acknowledge the efforts that all of us put into today's performance. Jennie also commended us for the huge improvement we have made since he saw our performance. Jackson said that he enjoyed himself so much that he forgot that he was a judge... typical of him really. Lay also pointed out that he was impressed that we went out of our comfort zones to showcase our instrumental ability and even played authentic Chinese instruments. He also said that the mixing of the modern and traditional instruments was the best idea so far. All this was according to Miki who took it upon herself to recall word by word what the judges said when I was busy sleeping.
Tem not only offered his shoulders to me, but even his laps when we reached the place assigned to us which was a bit hidden now that we were the last to perform. I slept peaceful for the whole period that the judges were giving the overall general overview of our performance before calling each group to evaluate even more in the judging booth. Also being a Friday night, we were to have a fun night by having a ballad competition among the different team groups. It was a team up activity where the judges choose the team that you will have a collaboration with. The ballads where English.
The theme was the best love song of all times.

I was woken by the noisy girls who came to congratulate our Punishment team. Just a glance on the screen on stage, I knew immediately that Lucas chose the songs. Don't ask me how, I just knew.
"Today's Friday fun night will be tricky as hell. " I said while stretching myself. This made everyone talking around me stopped and looked as my ass if I was the devil's advocate.
"Why do you say so P'?" A girl asked me.
"The songs were chosen by Lucas and they are all his favorite so he expect them to be performed to the perfection." I said and stood up, "sing according to his standard which has always been too high. You guys leaving or what?" I said while I pass past Cai and his newly made fun club. "Little Cai, am leaving, I am hungry. See you around." And with that I left without looking behind. I don't want to answer the upcoming question as to how I knew Lucas that well. Dragging my heavy body to the audience.
