THIRTY FIVE

I woke up with cramps because of my monthly periods. They were very painful this month I was tearing up. That was the first sign of the horrible time I was going to face today being that some hours after i will be required to perform Infront of an audience who will be deciding my fate in South Korea. I decided to take a warm bath then took some pain killers though I am not used to. I had to borrow from Aggie who was woken up by my painful hisses.
" Are you sure you will be ok Lensah because you look really bad!"
" What can I do, it is our first performance for the competition. I already requested not to perform the theme song for the competition. I knew that my MPs would start anyday this week. I could not excuse myself from the main pink group performance."
" Ok then. Are they always this painful?"
" No, I guess the change of climate from Kenya to South Korea is the cause.damn, sometimes I wonder why God gave us this kind of punishment"
" Hahahaha, I guess that is a question that you will have to ask him when you reach heaven one day."
" You bet I will. Ok then thanks for the pain killers. Let me lie down for some minutes. Wake me up so that we can head out together after you prepare yourself."
"Sure thing. Let me go and shower then."

The nap did me justice as usual because when I woke up again, I was refreshed. The pain was not there but I was not one to be fooled because I knew that they will act up again so I requested Aggie to give me more pain killers and I also carried a warming pad for later.

Being that today was our showcase day, we didn't have to go for the morning exercise, we went for breakfast that was to last until 7:30am when the programme was to start. We were required to take our breakfast quicky so that we go and dress up. The first costume change were like uniforms with name tags on them. They were typical Korean school uniforms. The girls had checked light blue, black and white skirts, white shirts and light blue blazers with the ASIAN POP BAND logo on them. The boys had black trousers, white shirts and light blue blazers. On the collar there was a checked light blue, white and black strip on it.

We were assigned different rooms that had screens so you could see what was going on on stage. At 7:00am, everyone was dressed and ready. I had my uniform but I didn't need to wear it being that I was not going on stage. Before going on stage, I had to give some courage to my son. He already knew that I was not performing the theme song. I went to the room designated for the pink team and sat there, looking at the song that all the contestants were performing.

The programme today was just depressing. With two MCs, one speaking Korean language and the other one translating in English. Ok, the thing is that I didn't have an issue with it but whenever he directly translated from Korean to English I felt like killing the guy. I found myself correcting every wrong sentence he translated wrongly. I think the next time, I will request to be given the translator's job.

After the joint performance, the rest came in a hurry because after the MCs finished introducing the judges, the competition was to start officially. When my team members came to the room, they were shocked to find that I had not changed into my costume. I had my reasons but that didn't sit well with my group leader. I had to tell Miki because among all the pink group members, she was the only one I was close to. I was not comfortable with wearing the short skirts we were to wear and the short tops... Ok, I know I have a beautiful body but there some parts they call private parts and I am a conservative African. Seeing my ply, I was given a dress that though it was short but at least I was showing off my belly button.

We were told that the pink team was to perform the last so we had more time to watch our competitors. I noticed that only three boys team, green, red and black teams decided to dress up as ladies being that they were forming girl groups songs the rest went for tight trousers.
