Braiding(4th place reward)

A reward for GSBUBLE as part of my Draw this in your style challenge. Drawing above is her work as part of her reward of having the drawing featured in a moment.

Max was walking near the royal garage where Leena was usually at, fixing up the Phoenix. "Hey Leena?" He called out as he entered the place, scanning for the lioness. "Over here" her voice perked up, and he spotted her, rummaging through her toolbox.

The king noticed that she was using one hand to get a tool while her other hand held her hair up. He tilted his, confused on why she was doing that. "So, are you ready for our trip to Kombati? He asked her excitedly. Max recently learned how they would go visit Kombati, a city in the East where his ancestors once ruled.

"Uh huh" she said, listening a bit while focus in finding something. "I tried to convince Twitch, and Spike to come but they both claimed that someone had to stay, and watch over the Lion Kingdom while we're gone. Although, I think that's just an excuse to stay home, and take break from these adventures" Max explained. He would let it go this time for his friends.

"Huh. So I guess it's just you, and me then" Leena said, surprised that their two friends wouldn't come this time. Not that she minded. At times, those two were a handful. "Well, yeah. The professor, and Kara are coming with us too. Higgabottom says there's a fighting style called martial arts. I can't wait to learn them" he told her excited.

"Yep. Argh where is it?" She asked, getting annoyed. Max looked at her, noticing that she seemed focus on something else. "What are you looking for?" He asked her as she finally looked away from the toolbox to look at him. She took her hand out of the tool box.

"My scrunchie. I need it for my hair. It was a white scrunchie" she told him. Leena preferred to keep her hair in a ponytail since letting it loose can get in the way at times. But she had misplaced it somewhere, and now had to hold her hair up.

Max, however, noticed that when she finally looked at him, and then turned around, scanning for it, he noticed that there was a white scrunchie around her wrist where her hand was holding the ponytail. He smiled at her, and gently grabbed her hand, getting her attention.

"You mean this scrunchie?" He asked her, pointing to the one on her hand. Leena let go of her hair, and saw the scrunchie. "Oh" she said, a little surprise. It was in plain sight this whole time, and she didn't realize it.

"Thanks" she told him, reaching to the scrunchie. But Max notice something that got him curious. "You know Leena, I realize I never seen you with your hair out before" he pointed out as he looked at her with her hair out now.

Her brown hair reached to her shoulders. "Yeah, so?" She asked confused. "You look really beautiful with your hair down" he told her smiling, and Leena blushed pink. She was surprised that Max didn't hesitate to say that. She smiled at hims shyly.

"Thanks" she told him, pushing a hair strand behind her. "You know what would make you look beautiful?" He asked her which made her looked at him confused. 'What is jungle boy up to?' She thought in her head.

"If we braided it" he suggested to her. "Huh?" She said surprised. "Come on. Let's try it" he told her, motioning her to follow him to this white bench outside the garage.

Max sat down, and patted the spot next to him for Leena. The lioness sat next to him, and turned her back to him, facing the blue sky with its white clouds. "And, you know how to braid?" She asked him, skeptical a bit. "Well, I've seen how my mom did it. So, I think it counts" he explained to her, and honestly his explanation made her a bit doubtful.

She felt his hands start to split her hair in three pieces, and started braiding. Leena always had done her hair by herself so this was strange to her have someone else do it for her.

Max finished by tying the scrunchie at the very end of the braid. "Ok, done!" He told her. The braid went down to her back, and it somehow made her hair look longer.

"It looks beautiful on you" he complimented her, quite happy with how it looks. Leena turned to look at him, examining the braid. She picked it up with her hands, and found that Max was right about the braid. He actually did a good job on it for his first time. No hair sticking out, or anything like.

"Wow. It is beautiful. You actually did a good job on it" she told him, amazed. She was questioning whether Max can pull it off. But, surprisingly he did actually pretty good.

"Huh, I underestimated you jungle boy" she teased him, giving him a smirk. Max raised an eyebrow at her, returning that smirk. She's not wrong though. He actually questioned whether he would pull it off or not since it was his first time.

"Still, thanks. I really like it. Plus, it doesn't seem to get in the way" she told him kindly, and he offered her a sweet smile. "You're welcome" he told her, patting her shoulder before standing up. "Hey, Max. I kinda need some help with the ship. Wanna help?" She offered him as she stood up too.

Max crossed his arms, smirking at her again. "It looks someone needs my help more than I thought huh?" He teased her, and she shook her head, walking past him. But, she did appreciate his help in the braid. "Maybe, I'll keep this for the trip' She thought in her head.
