Pilot Night Shift

"Yaaaawn" that was probably the fifth yawn Leena has done tonight. She was flying the Phoenix back home but it was a really long trip and it was late, the lioness had been in the pilot room all day without moving or doing anything else. Her eyes slowly started to close and her grip on the steering wheel loosen...big mistake!

"Gasp!" She woke up startled when the Phoenix started falling to the right and she quickly grabbed the steering wheel, the ship jumped a bit so there was no way anyone could sleep through that. "Whoa!" Max said surprised, his eyes scanned the whole ship alert. He was lying on his back the jump from the ship made him fall off his bed "Sorry everyone" he heard Leena's voice from the intercom and he was actually surprised "She's still awake?" He told himself as he got back on his feet.

Leena rubbed her eye so sleepy, she shook her head to shake the sleepiness off. "Leena?" She turn her head back to see Max coming to her "oh hi Max. Sorry about the ship" she told him exhausted while Max sat on the opposite chair looking at her worried "Its ok Leena but I think you should get some sleep" "huh?" "You've been flying all day without taking a break" "I'm fine Max. Yawn really"

Max wasn't convinced, he could tell she was tired. Her eyes were droopy and the way she sat looked bored and exhausted, it was obvious the lioness needed sleep. "Leena maybe you should get some sleep" "Max I'm fine really" she told him starting to get a little cranky and Max could tell "Leena..." "Max!" She told him angry but she accidentally moved the steering wheel and the ship titled.

Max's hands grabbed the wheel and steered it back to where it was, the ship returned to its original position. The two lions let out a sigh of relief "Leena" Leena turn to face Max and she saw how worried he was about her "You need to get some rest. I'll fly the Phoenix" her eyes widen surprise that he was going to continue the flight back home.

"But Max" "I'm not really sleepy. Not after that little 'turbulance' we had" he told her as she scooched out of her seat and Max took her place at the steering wheel. "But.." "Leena please you need sleep. You look so tired. Please. For me" he told her staring at her tired almond brown eyes and with another yawn, Leena nodded to him to say ok, too tired to argue back or talk.

He smiled, happy to see she finally agreed and he watched her leave the pilot room so he could be sure she was going to bed. Once she left, he turned his attention to flying the Phoenix.

Leena let out a relaxing sigh once her back landed on the soft mattress on the bed, she stretched on the bed enjoying the softness before turning to her side and letting her eyes close for some rest.

Few minutes later morning

Leena's eyes opened slowly, they blinked trying to adjust to the brightness in the room. Once her eyes fully adjusted, she looked through the window and saw that they have arrived at the Lion Kingdom "Huh I guess Max did a good job at getting us to the kingdom" she said and she suddenly realized that Max might be tired too.

Max left the pilot room stretching his arms from sitting on the chair for so long "Now I know how Leena feels sitting on a chair all night" he said stretching his back, his nose caught a sweet scent. "Mmm that smells good. Hey Spike what's for breakfast?" "Some coffee" his ears twitched at hearing Leena's voice and he spotted her walking towards him with two cups of coffee still hot.

"Here. Hope you like caramel" she told him smiling as she handed him the coffee "Thanks Leena" he took a sip from his coffee letting out a sigh enjoying the coffee. Leena shook her head at him smiling as she drank hers casually "How did you sleep last night?" "I slept great. Hey Max" she told him pausing for a moment so she can have his attention on her and not the coffee.

"Thanks for taking over the piloting for me. I was so tired and well..." she brushed a bang behind her ear shyly and blushing "I'm touched that you cared about my well being so much" she told him her eyes on her coffee and Maxed smiled at her, he brought his cup closer to hers "Your welcome Leena. But taking over your night shift did teach me something?" "What?" she asked confused on what switching night shifts could teach him.

"It's no fun spending the whole on a chair" he told her, rubbing his back and Leena bursted into laughter and wiping a tear fron her eye "Finally someone who really knows how I feel when you spend the whole night on a chair" "yeah" the two bang their cups laughing and enjoying a nice cup of coffee.
