A Reason to Not Compete with a Friend (request)

Request from @CG_tuber. Guys this request was in 2019 and I never did it. CG_tuber if you are reading this, I am sorry that this request wasn't done for a long time until now. This is why I write this requests down so I don't forget. 😅 This takes somewhere in the Kombati season

Near the monkey temple, Leena was watching Max training with the Grandmaster , the lioness was sitting underneath a tree below its shade while sitting criss cross.

"Psss"

Her ears perked at a sound above her and she glanced up at the trees. Fahn was in trees, waving at her with a big smile. Leena smiled at him back, and waved to him a hello. The little monkey got down with only his tail holding on the branch as he hanged upside down in front of his friend. His hands were behind his back, holding something.

"Here" he told her as his hands came out, holding two peaches, one in each hand. The monkey held one out to her. "Aw thank you Fahn" she said to him as she took the fruit from him while the boy got down, and sat next to her.

The lioness took a bite of the peach, enjoying the sweet juice from it as it trinkled on her chin. Her hand went up to wipe it off as Fahn turned to see his teacher and friend training.

"Hey. Your friend Max has been getting better and better everytime he trains" he exclaimed, taking a munch on his peach. Leena glanced at Fahn and back at her friend. "Yeah. He's been improving. I'm proud of him" she said, glad to see her friend make progress. They would need it to save their kingdom.

"Same with you"

Leena looked back at her little monkey friend as he spoke. "You've also been improving in your training. And Max doesn't even know about it. I can't wait to see the look of surprise on his face when he finds out how you too are a master in martial arts!" He said, the last part excited as he bit hard in the peach but his teeth hit the seed inside, his tail stiffen at that.
The monkey groaned in pain as he pulled back, spitting the seed out. The lioness chuckled amused at him.

"Me too. I bet he will be very surprised when he sees me in action" she said in agreement, taking another bite. "Hey maybe after Max finds out, let's do a competition to see who is better in martial arts" he suggested excitedly, throwing the seed around in his hands.

"A little competition huh? I wouldn't mind to see which of us is better in martial arts" she said confidently as she pulled the seed out of her peach. It was just fun to play with him.

"No no no!" Fahn said, waving his hands no. "I mean to see who is better than the other in anything. Like who is below who and who is above who" he explained more carefully and Leena's smile faded. Instead she frowned at hearing that.

"Ok. To compete with Max for fun is fine with m. But to compete to see who is better than the other? I'm not doing that Fahn" she told him gently but serious.

"Why not? You could easily best him I'm sure" he asked puzzled, titling his head to one side. The feline looked at the seed in her fingers, then to the other seed that Fahn threw on the ground and to her friend, focused on his training yet unaware of his friends watching and talking about him.

"Listen Fahn. Max is a good and dear friend of mine. I care about him. I care what can happen to him. Not because he is the king. But because he means alot to me" she explained to him as she picked up the other seed on the ground.

"And I know Max cares about me. He's always been there for me, and looks out for me. We are not below eachother. But we're not above eachother either. Max and I are beside eachother. Always" she told him, putting the two seeds side by side on the grass as Fahn watched her and listened.

She turned to the monkey with a gentle smile "Makes some sense Fahn?" She asked him, tilting her head too. He nodded to her, understanding why she would not compete with her best friend to see who was the best.

"Hey Leena! Fahn!" Max's voice came up as the two looked up. He had finished his training witht the Grandmaster and was on his way over to them. "Hey Max!" Fahn said excited as Leena smiled at her friend and the two made their way over, leaving the two peach seeds on the ground side by side together.
