Pipers POV
My heart started pumping fast. "It's here! The Water Medallion!" I looked around the bushes and trees, but to no avail. There was no bejeweled chest, shining amulet, nor glass case.
"Well?" Shadow said, walking up to me. "Where is it?"
"I'm not sure. It's not around here.." I turned to Clair. "Follow the glow of your Ice Medallion, Clair. It will show us the way."Clair nodded and held out the amulet for Shadow and I to see. It was brilliant. The glow flooded out of the crystal and gleamed in the sunlight. Clair closed her eyes, took a breath, and started walking. We followed silently.
We all had no clue as to where we were on the island, yet Clair seemed to know exactly where we were headed. Shadow and I both stared as the bear walked over to a side of a cliff and rested her hand on the limestone. She then opened her eyes and nodded at Shadow. Clair stepped back as the black hedgehog grunted and spindashed into the side, digging into the rock. I watched closely as rocks became loose and tumbled into the grass. Suddenly Shadow called out. He had dug too far. He started to plunge into a hidden cavern.
"SHADOW!" I yelled. I grabbed his hand and caught him just in time. Loose rocks started falling into the cavern and plunged into the water below. "Clair!" I grunted, barely keeping Shadow up. "A little help??"
Clair gasped and ran over to our aid and pulled us up. Shadow and I toppled into the grass. We gasped for breath. Shadow out of relief, but I because he was so HEAVY. I rubbed my hips where Clair had grabbed to bring back heat. They were frozen."Thank you Piper," Shadow said looking over at me. He propped himself up and helped me to my feet as well.
"No problem Shad."
He glared. "Don't call me that."
I grinned.
He looked over at Clair. "And thank you, Clair." He smiled softly at her and walked towards the cavern. Clair blushed softly.
"It was no trouble," She whispered, though Shadow never heard it.The black hedgehog stared down into the abyss. "So," he said with a chuckle, "How do you supposed we get down there?"
"I can't go down," Clair said sadly.
"Why not?" I asked, walking over to her.
"If I touch that water, everything in it will turn to ice," She gulped. "including me."
Shadows eyes widened. "Ok, so Clair will stay up here. I on the other hand, cannot swim whatsoever. Besides, someone should stay up here to guard with Clair. That leaves..." He turned to me and smirked. "You can swim, right?"I gulped as I got ready to jump into the water below. We were about 20 ft up from the waters level, and with Shadows "knowledge," we knew that the water would be deep, deep enough for me to jump into the cavern and survive. Luckily, if that weren't the case, I would super jump back up with out hurting myself. Hopefully.
"Shouldn't we contact Sonic?" I asked, staring down into the water below. I looked down at my communicator. "I have, like, 20 missed calls from him."
Clair looked down at hers.
"And I as well."
Shadow snorted. "That faker can wait. He can't swim, so what's the use of contacting him?" He grumbled. "Besides, Id like to rub my finding of the Water Medallion all up in his giant ego."
I whispered to Clair. "His finding?"
She stuttered a giggle. Shadow gave me the death glare.
That's when I jumped. The cold water greeted me like an old friend. That had a grudge. And had a knife. And was a murderer.
The water below was as cold as Holoska. I believed that Clair's ice powers wouldn't have even affected it. It was already like the frozen tundra.
I shrieked as the cold punctured my fur and engulfed my body. I dove in, and opened my eyes in the water. It was completely black.
I popped my head out, gasping for air. How on Möbius was I supposed to find the water medallion in a dark cavern filled with water?
"Piper?" An echo rang through the cavern.
"STILL ALIVE." I called up to Shadow.
"Good. I didn't want to go down and fetch your body. It looks cold down there."
I sighed. "How am I supposed to find the medallion down here?"
"Take this!" Clair called out. "Catch!"
A gleam of light fell from where the two figures stood. I swam over to where it was falling and caught it just before it broke the surface of the water.
The ice medallion.I was under again and used its light to brighten the water. I could see stalagmites and other rock formations, a few fish, and some snails, but no amulets. I came up for a breath. How long had my search been? A few minutes? An hour? Who knew. My mind was completely focused. I dove back under and flashed the amulet around the cavern once more. Then I saw a glimmer. A crystal shown in the light of the Ice Medallion. I swam over to it and gasped.
Clair's POV
"Pull me up!" Pipers voice rang out. Shadow and I started pulling on a homemade rope made out of vines we found. We had used the time Piper was looking for the amulet properly. I mean, there was no other way for her to get out of the cavern. She couldn't jump her way out while she was swimming.
We hoisted Piper out of the cave and he landed on the ground. She looked completely wiped out.
"Did you find it?" Shadow asked, looming over her.
"Shadow," I said, "Leave her be. Dont you see that she is soaked through and tired?"
"No," Piper said, wheezing. Her eyelids drooped. "Here."
She pulled a blue circular crystal out of her pocket. It rested on a dark blue ribbon and gleamed like the morning dew. A single picture of a raindrop was on its center.
"The Medallion of the Sea," I gasped. "It's so beautiful. You found the water medallion Piper!"
She smiled and her eyes closed wearily. 🌟Authors note- YAY!! We now have three of the seven!! Omg! Haha
