The Seven Medallions

Episode 33

Countdown- 28 hours
Pipers POV

My whole body ached with pain from the shelve landing on me. It had been a few hours since the incident, and we were trying to come up with a plan to stop Eggman from putting on the amulets.
My head was propped up with an insane amount of pillows from Amy's bed. The rest of my useless body laid on her pink couch in her living room.
Everyone else sat in silence and in thought in her colorful living room. No one dared to talk. The mood was dark, for sure.
Tails popped a green mint in his mouth and sat at my feet, book in hand. He hasn't left my side since the incident.
Everyone else sat, waiting for someone to break the silence. Sonic paced back and forth, anxious. Amy seemed annoyed by this.
"Will you PLEASE sit down?"
Sonic sighed and plopped down on her love seat.

"I think we should go out and find Shadow. He has the amulets, after all." Knuckles tried to inspire some corse of action.
"Good plan, let's get out of here." Sonic went to the door."
"Wait, Sonic-" Clair called out.
"UGHHH I CANT STAND THIS WAITING ANYMORE." Sonic ran in place, annoyed. "We have to get out there!"
"We should think of a plan.." Clair whispered, flustered by his outburst.
"Well then lay one on me!! We can't just wait around in silence any longer." Sonic gasped.

Suddenly, a familiar face burst in the door. I gasped.
"Shadow??" Sonic snarled.
"It's Eggman. We need to-" Shadow started, only to be interrupted by Tails.
"YOU TRAITOR!!"
I gasped at his outburst. His ears started to turn red, something that happens only when he is truly upset.
"YOU BETRAYED US! YOU ROTTEN LIAR!"
Sonic's jaw dropped.
"AND YOU... YOU-" He pointed to me.
"YOU HURT HER."
Shadow looked at me, his ruby eyes filled with despair.
Tails shook. He growled and pointed to the door.
"Get. Out."
"But-"
"LEAVE."
Shadow looked defeated. Everyone looked away from him. I glanced for a split second, then buried my face in my pillow.
He smiled softly and genuinely.
"Ok, I shall leave. But I must warn you. Eggman has the medallions. No doubt that by now he has put them on."
I looked up.
"You must all get out of here. Or come up with a plan to stop him. Or both. But please,"
He looked at Clair.
"I don't want to see any of you get hurt because of my foolish actions.
"I will not say why I did it, but I will say that I didn't wish to. It was not my choice to back stab you all... Well, maybe not all of you."
He glanced at Sonic. I smiled, remembering their childish antics.
"Now I must go, as you all wish it that way. Please, undo my mistake."

And with that, he opened the door and left without another word.
Shadow the Backstabber.

Countdown- 24 hours

Our minds were bustling with plans. Now that we knew that Eggman had the medallions, we assumed Enerjak had control over him. We had to think up a plan to defeat him.

For now, we decided to wait it out. Hopefully, he would come to us. And in that time, we could think up an idea to destroy Enerjak once and for all.
The weight of the light medallion rested in my palm. It looked heavy, but rested lightly in my hand. The amulet truly was beautiful, and the key to bring Enerjak down. With only six medallions around Eggman's neck, Enerjak can still be locked back up with the help of the seventh. But if he gets hold of the seventh...
"I think we should use the chaos emeralds," Sonic said. "You even said so yourself, Tails, that they are connected somehow... Maybe they can give us the boost we need to bring down Enerjak."
"I think it's a good plan," Tails said. "But that will help only you. What about the rest of us?"
"Well, maybe we could... Or maybe.." Sonic dug in his head for an idea, to no avail.
"Well we could always just rely on our weapons," Amy said. "I have my Piko-piko hammer, Tails has his gadgets, Knuckles has his strength, and Clair has her ice voodoo."
Clair pursed her lips as Amy continued. "Let's just treat this like a regular Eggman fight and win as always; not let the worry get to our heads."
"I don't know Amy.." Tails sighed. "We can't just treat this like a regular fight because it ISN'T one."
"And besides," I added, "I don't have a weapon. Just my super jumps."
Everyone went silent.
"Pip," Sonic started.
I looked around. "No.. No no. I am NOT staying behind."
"Piper, you are hurt," Clair said. "There is no way you can come along."
"I'm FINE. Just a little bruised.." I sat up, a bit dizzied. Tails took my shoulders.
"There is no way I'm letting you out there."
I frowned. "But-"
"Nope."
I crossed my arms. "Fine. But Tikal gave ME the medallion." I lifted it up. "When the time comes, and he is defeated, I will come and lock him away with MY medallion. Got it?"
Sonic smiled. "You got it, boss."
I smirked.

We decided to go with Amy's plan. We hadn't fought Enerjak like this before, so we weren't sure what to expect until we witnessed it for ourselves. Tails gave the whole gang lots of tools and weapons to use. He would be piloting the Tornado while the others fought from the ground.
I was worried. Would they be ok?
Tails pulled his computer up to Amy's couch.
"With this, you can watch the action unfold. I have a camera on my plane, and I'm giving everyone earpieces with cameras so you can talk to people and see what they are doing. Just a precaution, of course. In case someone gets..." He stopped and cleared his throat.
"Anyways, we will call you if we need anything. Ok?"
I looked into Tails' eyes. I could feel mine turn grey with worry. What if..?
"Tails, please promise me something."
"Anything Piper. What's wrong?"
My eyes watered. "Stay safe. Please don't get killed, Tails. Please.."
Tails looked surprised, then smiled softly. Flustered, he wiped a tear from my cheek. "Hey! Don't worry about me. I'll be ok, Sonic has my back." He grinned. "And so does everyone else!"
I smiled. Worrying was silly. He will be ok! He always is.
I leaned over and planted a quick peck on his cheek.
"I know."
He looked startled. Then I giggled as I watched his whole face blush Crimson.
"Tails! Buddy!" Sonic called out. "We gotta juice!"
Tails covered his face. "Coming!" He hugged me quickly then rushed out of Amy's house.

Quietly, I put on my headpiece to communicate with the others and flipped on the cameras. I watched as everyone hopped on the Tornado and took off.
