The Seven Medallions

Episode Four

"WAVE!" Jet screamed. "GET THE BOX!"
"Right!" Wave responded, her purple feathers flapping in the wind.
The Babylon Rouges were in a terrible storm. The wind shook the trees in the forest, and the rain poured on the trio as they ran out of a cave.
"I got it Jet!" Wave shrieked over the screams of the wind.
"Then let's get out of here!" Storm the Swallow jumped on his board and flew off. Wave and Jet followed on their boards.

Steaks of lightning shot through the sky as the team dodged the falling trees in the forest, dying to get out of the piercing rain and wind. Wave clutched their prize, holding it tight against her chest.

It all started when they heard of an ancient treasure in the cave in that forest. Immediately they went in search of it, and discovered the ancient box. It was beautiful, covered in gems of every shape and color, and decorated with swirling patterns of gold.

"What do you think is in the box, Jet?" Storm asked over the sound of thunder. "We can discuss stupid questions later, Storm," Jet yelled. "But to tell ya the truth, even if there was no treasure, the box ALONE could pay the rent for a couple decades-"

"JET! THE BOX!" Wave jumped in surprise, almost falling off her board.
"WHAT ABOUT IT?"
"INSIDE! ITS GLOWING!!"
"WHAT ARE YOU-" Jet was cut off by the sound of a falling tree. The trio shrieked as the giant fell in front of them, threatening to crush them under its weight.

Pipers POV-
We were all sitting in the main deck of the Blue Typhoon, discussing our plan to find the remaining six medallions. Tails was sitting in the captains chair, flying the ship behind the controls. Sonic, Amy, Knuckles, and Shadow were all standing around Tails, and I with them. Clair was in her room, fast asleep.

"I say we just cruise around the Galaxy, dropping by certain planets, and search for the Medallions." Amy said, twirling her thumbs.
"That will take too long," Knuckles said.
"We need immediate action if Eggman is planning on taking them," Sonic stated. "We can't just go and search randomly."
"Well do you geniuses have any other ideas?" Amy retorted.

Sonic thought for a moment.
"Tails, is there any way that we can track the amulets?"
"Hold on," Tails put the ship in auto pilot and swirled around in his chair to face a computer screen. He began to type on his keyboard and then faced us again.

"To know for sure, I would have to run a few tests," he said. "But my guess is no."
"So now what?" I asked. "We just go with Amy's idea?"
"That would take too long!" Knuckles said.
"Is there any other way, pea for brain?" Amy yelled at the echidna.

"Shadow, do you have any ideas?" Sonic asked, facing the black hedgehog.
Shadow had been quite silent for a while now with his eyes closed. Suddenly they fluttered open, and he stared at us before answering.
"To be frank, I believe that our answer is running down the hall right now."

I stared at Shadow, completely dumbfounded. What did he mean, running down the hall right now? The others looked as confused as I was.
Suddenly, the doors to the main deck slid open, revealing a shivering Clair in her pajamas. She was clutching something in her hand and her face was filled with anxiety.
"Clair!" Sonic said running over. "What's up? Are you ok?"
"It's my ice amulet." Clair replied with haste.
"What about it?" I said, joining Sonic. The others came, surrounding Clair.
She opened her hand, revealing the medallion. We all stared in complete awe. Shadow snickered.
"It's..." Amy whispered.
"Glowing." I finished.

Tails ran back to his computer, slamming his fingers on the keyboard. I sprinted over to him.
"What's up?" I said. "Got anything?"
He smiled at me. "OF COURSE!" He yelled. "IT WAS STARING ME IN THE FACE THE WHOLE TIME!"
"What was??" Knuckles said.
"The medallions react when they are near each other, just like the chaos emeralds!"
"Seriously?" Sonic asked, surprised.
"How do they react?" Amy said.

Tails opened his mouth to reply, but Shadow beat him to the punch.
"They glow, idiots." He sighed. "Was it really that hard of a question?"
"Then this glowing means that we are near a medallion right now!" I said, my eyes turning a shade of mint, showing my excitement.
"Yes! But that's not all," Tails said.
"What else is there?" Sonic said, scratching his head.

"The chaos emeralds and the medallions," Tails said. "They are connected somehow!"

"WHAT?" We all said in unison.

Suddenly, Clair shouted at the top of her lungs. "I SEE A GLOW!"

"WHAT?!?" We repeated. All of us ran to the window where Clair was. She pointed to a weak glow in the trees below. Sonic stared and smiled.
"Let's land and check it out."

The rain poured hard on us as we looked in the woods for that mysterious glow. We split up. Sonic, Tails, Clair, and I were a team and Amy, Knuckles, and Shadow were the other team. Clair held the ice amulet close to her, using it as a guide.

The glow of the ice medallion grew as we continued through the forest, shivering in the ice cold wind. We were soaked to the bone as we heard a scream in the woods. Sonic sped off towards the sound and we ran off after him.

When we found Sonic he was surrounded by none other then the Babylon Rouges. A huge tree had just been struck by lightning and was now lying on the ground. Jet had his arms crossed and was looking away from the blue hedgehog.

"Oh come on, Jet!" Sonic said. "I just saved your life! At least thank me!?"
"No way, hedgehog," Jet snorted. "My life didn't need saving!"
"From a falling tree?? At least tell me what is in the box!"
"The box?" Tails questioned.
Wave clutched a box of swirling gems near her chest, and the contents...
"It's glowing!" Clair exclaimed.
"You don't think.." Tails said.
"What's in the box, Jet." Sonic said sternly. Jet looked and faced us.

"Look, I haven't even opened it yet. We just heard of the treasure that was stashed here in the forest and went for it."
"Yeah, we have no idea what could be inside." Wave said.
"The box is probably worth more, though." Storm pipped up.
"Just open it." I said.
Wave looked at Jet questioningly.
Jet nodded, and Wave popped open the beautiful box.
We all stared at the contents, amazed, our faces in awe.
The sparks of the treasure flew in the air as we comprehended what the box.

"The Fire Medallion," I whispered.🌟
