Piper's POV
"37, 38, 39, 40!" Amy cheered. "That's the last of the packages!"
Amy and I stood over by huge boxes and crates filled with supplies for our journey. Who knew how long we were to be gone if we were trying to gather up 7 medallions around the Galaxy. They might still be with the royal families mentioned in the Albion Prophesies, but some may have fallen out of their grasp, or the families died out and the amulets are hidden in lost civilizations. It may take months to collect them all before Eggman can get his hands on them.

I have to say that they were surprised when Shadow wanted to join the team. He surprised me as well with his sudden interest to stop Eggman and help us. Sonic was suspicious at first, but eased into the idea that Shadow was on our side.
When Tails and I told the others about the 7 Elemental Medallions and how Clair's medallion and her powers was only one of the seven, they were shocked. Amy, Knuckles, and Sonic were surprised, but Clair was taken aback completely. She was especially eager to find the other amulets before Eggman because she knew what that kind of power can do, and what would happen if Eggman got a hold of all seven.

"Hey Piper, you think you can give me a hand here?" Amy picked up one of the boxes and started walking towards a mountain.
"Sure thing," I said as I picked up a package and followed her.
We walked along a path and eventually got to the base of the mountain. Amy looked up and around, as if she was searching for something.
"Um, Amy?"
"Yeah?"
"Where exactly are we? And why are we here?"
"We are at the base of a mountain. This is where the airbase Tails made is."
"No offense, but shouldn't I be able to see an airbase?"
"Not this one," Amy giggled and found what she was looking for: a keypad hidden in the foliage.
She smirked and put down the box. She walked over to the pad and typed a 4-digit code into it and stood back.

I watched as a chunk of the mountain pulled away. Underneath was a huge tunnel, leading to what I presumed was the air base Amy was talking about.
I gasped as lights brightened the hallway.
"We keep it hidden in case of emergencies," Amy said, picking up her box and starting down the tunnel. "If Egghead were to bomb the place, the ship would be perfectly safe. It was Tails' idea."
"It's so cool!" I said, running my bad arm along the side of the corridor, my good arm carrying a box of blankets.
"Tails is a genius..."
Amy looked over at me with a questioning look. She was silent for a few moments then blurted out,
"Do you like him?"
"W-what?? Who?!?" I said, my cheeks blushing.
"Tails, of course!"
"I-I do not! He's just a friend!"
"Whatever you say," Amy said, rolling her eyes playfully. My cheeks were burning with a bright pink glow. I didn't like Tails, did I? I pushed the thought away. Even if I did, he didn't like me back.

We continued down the halls until we came to a darkened room.
"Over here! Amy called out to me. I followed the sound of her voice till I found where she put down the boxes.
"Why is it so dark?" I asked, putting out my flailing arms, trying to find a wall to hold onto.
"Hey guys!" Sonic called out to us and I felt a blast of wind hit my face. Knowing he was next to me, I turned to him.
"Can't we turn on the lights?" I mumbled, getting tired of my restricted eyesight.
"I agree with the mink." I could feel Shadow standing in front of me.

Suddenly, a voice came over a loud speaker.
"Hey guys! Welcome to the Blue Typhoon!" Tails chirped, and the lights came on.

The ship was gigantic. It had at least 6 engines and took up a mile of space. Blue stripes lined the sides and it had a huge skylight. Windows accompanied the stripes, at least a two dozen to each side, and each a meter long.

"Wow." I gasped, my face filled with awe. It was incredible. I couldn't even imagine the inside.

"I'm inside making some slight repairs, but if you guys could get the supplies loaded, that would be great," Tails said.
"No problem, bud." Sonic gave a thumbs up and went inside. Dragging Shadow by the arm, he took him to get the rest of the boxes. Poor Shadow look miserable as he was dragged out by Sonic.

Soon, (after persuading Shadow to help,) all of the supplies were loaded onto the air base.
"So, we got everything on board?" Sonic asked, looking over the boxes.
"Yep! It's all accounted for," Knuckles said, counting the boxes. "At least I think so. I've only got 10 fingers to count on."

"It's ok, Knuckles," Clair said, coming into the room. "There are 40 boxes, Sonic. It's all here."
"Ok! I'll tell Tails." Sonic sped off.

"Let's go guys! We're going to take off!" Amy said, running after Sonic. Knuckles and Clair followed. I looked over at Shadow, who was leaning up against the wall. He seemed lost in thought. I walked over to him and tapped his shoulder.
"Shadow, can I ask you something?"
He opened his eyes to glance at me then shut them again.
"Sure, just don't annoy me with boring questions."
"Why are you here?"
Shadow looked at me intriguingly, surprised by question. He stared at me with his deep red eyes and responded.
"I can't tell you."
I huffed with disappointment, though I was expecting that exact answer.
"Ok fine. Don't tell me." I walked off, but not before his peculiar bracelet caught my eye.
"What on earth is that?" I asked, pointing to his wrist.
Shadow glanced at his wrist and covered it quickly with his opposite hand.
"It's nothing. Now go away. I'm thinking."
I grumbled a response to his rudeness and headed after Clair and Knuckles.
What was up with Shadow?
No matter.

I was ready to start my adventure.
It was time. 🌟
