Everyone ditched them. They left the two alone in the restaurant, including Hansol, who took a break to give them privacy. Like they really needed it. If anything, they could have just gone outside to talk rather than all of their friends making a big deal out of it.
Mingyu quickly realized that Wonwoo wasn't going to be the first one to talk.
"This is awkward," he started. "But I first wanted to ask, is there something on my face?" Since he walked over and sat across from Wonwoo, the other's been staring at him.
Wonwoo quickly looked away. "No," he said. MIngyu watched as the other's Adam's apple bob up and down as he swallowed.
Mingyu nodded. "Okay, good. That'd be embarrassing." There wasn't even a noise or reaction in general. Was Wonwoo really that mad at him? "Look, I wanted to say I'm sorry."
Now, the dark-haired male looked back at him. "You're right. This is awkward." He pursed his lips and pushed his glasses up. "How about we skip this part and pretend everything that happened never did?"
Mingyu didn't let it show that the Wonwoo's words affected him. It was like a slow stab to the heart. He leaned back in his seat. "It was a part of a stupid bet me and my friend did," he explained against Wonwoo's wishes. "It's basically a race to find our soulmates, so we're all starting with our crushes."
"I'm your 'crush'?"
Oops. Mingyu really needed to start thinking before he spoke. "Uh . . . yes?"
Wonwoo blew out a breath. "I hope you know I'm not interested."
"Look, I just wanted to apologize," the other said. "I'm not here to make you fall in love with me or anything."
Wonwoo fidgeted in his seat and started playing with the sleeve of his hoodie. He was avoiding Mingyu's gaze again.
"Is there any way I can make it up to you?" Mingyu asked.
Wonwoo pulled a string from his sleeve and threw it to the side. Mingyu felt like that string. "I do have a favor to ask," he said.
"Anything."
"It'd really help if you found a way to take the video down. And stop people from talking about the kiss at school," Wonwoo said.
Mingyu rose an eyebrow. "Video?"
"You haven't heard about it either? Well, it's basically everywhere, but you're rich, so I'm sure you'll find a way to make it disappear."
"Okay, it'll be gone by tomorrow." Mingyu inwardly groaned. A video meant his dad has probably already heard the news, which meant that he'd have some new way to control Mingyu's life.
He glanced out the window and saw their friends across the street. Seungkwan looked over, and Mingyu took the chance to send some sort of Save me signal. He was heartbroken, and Wonwoo wanted all evidence of what could have been a real relationship erased. The red-head quickly got the message and motioned for everyone to come back to the shop.
"Oh, it looks like our time is up," Mingyu said, turning back to the male on the other side of the table.
Wonwoo stood up quickly. "I'll leave first," he informed.
"Bye." Mingyu forced a smile that slowly faded as the dark-haired male walked away from him. He put his face in his hands. "Dammit," he muttered.
"I can tell that didn't go well," Seungkwan said.
"I'm glad you noticed," Mingyu answered dryly. He dropped his hands and stood up. "I'm leaving now. Coming?"
"Wait, Min, look at me," Seungkwan said, his eyes wide.
