"How'd it go?" Jisoo asked, standing in the doorway to the living room.
Mingyu fell over sideways, dramatically. "Not very well at all," he admitted.
Jisoo took a seat in the space where Mingyu's long torso had not taken up. "What happened?"
Mingyu sat up and turned his body towards the other mle. "I suggested we start over," he started. "Then twenty minutes later, me and my big mouth had to bring up the one thing Wonwoo didn't want to talk about."
"I don't know. He's supposed to text me."
Jisoo put a hand on Mingyu's shoulder. "Think of it this way. You have his number. He hasn't completely put you out of his life."
"This is for a school thing," Mingyu said, like his step brother must have forgotten.
"So? He could have asked me to talk to you for him when it came to meeting up."
"I guess you're right," Mingyu reluctantly agreed. "Having a soulmate is hard."
"All relationships are hard," Jisoo said. "Wonwoo will come around. He probably has his reasons for being difficult."
Later, Mingyu laid in bed, staring at Wonwoo's name in his contact list. He wanted to text the elder and apologize again, but he also didn't. Wonwoo was his soulmate. He shouldn't have to apologizze for attempting to develop a romantic relationship.
Jisoo's words echoed in his head again. He probably has his reasons for being difficult.
Was it really his status that intimidated Wonwoo? It was entirely possible, but Mingyu didn't think so. Wonwoo wasn't the kind of person to be threatened by a higher power. So what was the problem?
Mingyu turned over to put his phone on the charger when the device vibrated in his hand. At one glance, he saw Wonwoo had texted him.
Wonwoo:
If we're going to be working together, there needs to be rules.Mingyu expected nothing less. Before he could answer, the other texted again.
Wonwoo:
Rule #1 - No physical contact
Rule #2 - You will keep your romantic feelings to yourself
Rule #3 - No flirting
Rule #4 - Mind your own Business
Rule #5 - Don't bring up soulmatesMingyu:
Okay, got it.Wonwoo:
I want you to take this seriously.Mingyu:
I am taking it seriously.Mingyu waited a moment for Wonwoo to respond. He was fine with the rules. Sure, they were a bit over the top, but he'd just need to work up to getting past them. When there was no sign of a response, he started typing again.
Mingyu:
Hey, I have a question.Wonwoo:
What do you want?Mingyu:
Chill on the hostility 😖Wonwoo:
Oh, you're one of those people.Mingyu:
Wdym? 🤨Wonwoo:
You use an unnecessary amount of emojis.Mingyu:
I like emojis 😉Wonwoo:
😐Mingyu:
Right, no flirting.Wonwoo:
It's literally been two minutes.
Mingyu:
I apologize 😇. Anyway, we're basically friends now, right?
Wonwoo:
Maybe.Mingyu:
That's better than nothing.
Wonwoo:
Would I be able to get rid of you even if I tried?Mingyu:
Probably not.Wonwoo:
Exactly. And I want to make it clear that I am never going to date you, even if you are my soulmate.Mingyu:
Rule #5 - Don't bring up soulmates
Wonwoo:
🖕Mingyu:

Mingyu and Seungkwan were beaming as they sat at their table where Jeonghan was already sitting. The blonde chewed his food slowly, aiming a look of suspicion at his friends. "What's up with you two?"
Seungkwan spoke first. "Hansol finally asked me out."
Mingyu congratulated him then glanced behind him looking for Wonwoo. Wonwoo was warming up to him, and soon enough, he might even fall for the younger.
"I assume this project with Wonwoo is working in your favor," Jeonghan said, forcing Mingyu to turn back and look at his friends.
The turqoise-haired male nodded. "Yeah, better than expected. He actually texts me back. What about you and Jisoo?"
"Everytime I bring it up, he says no," Jeonghan told him. "Or he speaks in English, and I can't understand a word he says." He sighed, annoyed.
"From what I've seen, there are two ways you can get a kiss," Seungkwan said. "One, like Mingyu, you can eternally traumatize your target through harassment."
"Hey, when you guys put it that way, you make me sound like a perv," Mingyu complained.
The red-head ignored him. "Second, you can rely on time and your charms," he told Jeonghan.
"Jisoo claims that it's impossible for me to be his soulmate, but how the hell does he know?" Jeonghan said. "His eyes are still grey. Nobody knows who their soulmate is until their eyes change . . . Right?"
Mingyu shrugged. "Since the moment I met him, his eyes have always been grey." He glanced behind him just in time to see Wonwoo walk into the cafeteria with Seokmin and Hoshi. They sat at a table in the corner farthest from Mingyu's own spot.
"I'll right back," Mingyu said. Then he walked over to Wonwoo's table.
