The articles had been printed in a school magazine and posted on Hit Entertainment's website for weeks now, yet Mingyu never actually got around to reading any of them. He read them now while he waited for Wonwoo to get out of photography club.
Most of the articles were pretty boring. Just generic imformation. The articles Soonyoung and Seokmin threw together were entertaining and well written. Mingyu saved the best for last, reading Jeonghan's and then his own.
Jisoo had a way with words that Mingyu would never understand. He managed to make the articles interesting and funny while also sounding professional.
Wonwoo had helped him gather the information and he took the photos. For Jeonghan's, they used a couple of pictures from the river photoshoot.
Mingyu moved on to his own passage. He'd noticed it before, but still, Wonwoo managed to pick up on so much more than Mingyu had initially told him. There wasn't anything embarrassing or big, just small little things, like how Mingyu's nose tends to twitch a little when he's annoyed. Odd fact to include, but based on the comments, nobody was going to complain. Fan service, Wonwoo had said.
What really made Mingyu smile was the choice of pictures Wonwoo had used. One of them was from the river photoshoot. He'd been standing in the middle of the river, his pants rolled up to his knees. He was looking up with a small little grin on his face. Wonwoo's photography skills will always amaze him. He looked so happy, and even tho it was posed, it looked natural.
The other two pictures were photos Mingyu hadn't even been aware of Wonwoo taking. The first was during one of their driving sessions. Mingyu had been behind the wheel, completely focused on what was in front of him. He wasn't smiling in this one, but anyone could tell he was having fun.
The second picture, Wonwoo had let him try on his glasses while they were doing the interviews for the articles. Mingyu wore them for no more than ten minutes before he started to get a headache. He figured out that Wonwoo was actually super blind that day. Wonwoo had managed to get a picture of him smiling while also looking at the camera.
"Are you taking a picture of me?" he had asked when he spotted Wonwoo's phone held up in his direction.
The other swiped something on the screen. "No, Junhui just texted me. I had to hold the phone up to my face in order to see what he said," Wonwoo told him.
Mingyu gave the glasses back soon after that.
He wondered how many pictures Wonwoo had taken when he wasn't paying attention. He found the idea of his soulmate having a secret stash of his pictures really cute.
Mingyu scrolled through the comments, cringing at some, smiling at others. When identities became anonymous, it was amazing what people were willing to say. He was a high school kid for God sakes.
Wow. High school would be officially over tomorrow. It'd be summer. There were still a few months before Chairman Kim made him go to Seoul University for business. Mingyu and Wonwoo never actually discussed what their plans after high school were either. There was also the fact that Wonwoo and Jisoo would probably win that internship. They might rarely see each other.
Something bumped his shoulder, and he glanced over at a sneaker. The shoe belonged to Wonwoo.
"You ready?" the elder asked.
Mingyu pushed himself up off the stairs. "You gonna tell me where we're going yet?"
"Nope." Wonwoo walked past him to his car. Mingyu followed after.
The longer Wonwoo refused to tell him, the more he got excited. All he knew was Wonwoo had called it a "date" the night before.
As they drove, Mingyu had to bite back his words. He wasn't that great when it came to surprises and wanted to ask again where they were going, but didn't.
Then he spotted the roller coasters in the distance. Maybe they were heading somewhere else near there? Or maybe they were actually going to the amusement park. It had been their first date in Mingyu's eyes.
Wonwoo pulled into the park's parking lot, and Mingyu let out an interesting noise. Wonwoo looked at him, concern on his face. "Are you okay?" he asked.
"Yep, all good here," the other said, clearing his throat. God, Mingyu didn't even know what the noise was. "So, what are we doing here?"
Wonwoo shrugged. "You're only here because I needed a free pass."
It took a minute for Mingyu to process it as a joke. "Are we going on more roller coasters?" he asked.
"No." Wonwoo started heading in the direction of the ferris wheel. Mingyu released a nervous laugh. It never got easier the more he went on the thing.
But then Wonwoo sat on the empty bench a few feet from the surprisingly long line.
Mingyu glanced from the wheel to Wonwoo. The elder just motioned towards the spot next to him. The tall male sat beside him, not yet ready to let himself relax at the thought of going on the ferris wheel.
"See that guy with his dog?" Wonwoo said, pointing to said guy with dog.
It was a middle-aged guy who had leaned down to pet the overly fluffy poodle at his side. There was nothing unusual about them. They were probably waiting for someone who was currently on the ferris wheel.
"What about them?" asked Mingyu.
"Clearly, the guy has been trying to convince the dog to go out with him for a very long time," Wonwoo said.
The response was so absurd and unexpected, Mingyu released the loudest, ugliest snort ever in his whole life. He was laughing so hard, his sides began hurting within seconds. He was too caught off guard to even be embarrassed by the awful sound.
Once he managed to calm down, he sat up and wiped at his eyes. He glanced over at Wonwoo who wad grinning triumphantly at him.
"I thought you were normal," Mingyu told him.
Wonwoo just shrugged, the smile never wavering. "My dad used to come up with crazy stories for random people around us. I wanted to try it myself."
It must be easier for him now to talk about his dad, Mingyu thought. That was good. It meant he was starting to heal. "Can I try?" he asked.
"Go for it."
"The girl over there can communicate with the birds," Mingyu started. "She trying to convince them to help her ask out the girl next to her." The girl was staring up intently at the birds that say on the roof of a nearby game booth. The girl next to her was looking at something on her phone.
Wonwoo pursed his lips trying not to laugh."She can talk to the birds, huh?"
"Of course. It's called being a bird-whisperer," Mingyu defended playfully.
The elder male leaned over and rested his head against Mingyu's shoulder. He pointed to another set of people and made up another story for them.
Mingyu leaned over and rested his own head on Wonwoo's. He was completely head over heels for Wonwoo. He was beyond happy. There was nothing that could change how he was feeling right now.
