He actually did it. Mingyu actually got Wonwoo to go out with him. Maybe it wasn't a date, but it was close enough. Sadly though, right at this moment, Mingyu kind of wanted to curl up into a ball and cry. Of all places he could have chosen for their "date" . . . But how could he not after Junhui told him that Wonwoo liked this place?
The whole time Mingyu kept his eyes closed tightly as the roller coaster went, hoping Wonwoo didn't look at him. One after the other, he did the same thing. What an impression he was making.
The rides all ended quickly (of course, much slower than Mingyu would have liked, but still, quickly) and the two made their way to the exit of the last one. He could see Wonwoo glancing at him.
"Are you okay?" the elder asked.
"Yeah, that was fun," he said, trying to sound as convincing as possible. Wonwoo still looked at him skeptically. "Wanna go get some food?" Mingyu asked before the other could question his current state.
Wonwoo pulled his phone from his pocket to glance at the time. It's only been a couple of hours, and Mingyu was a little worried Wonwoo would want to leave early. Today hasn't been that bad, has it?
"Please," Wonwoo answered to Mingyu's relief.
As they walked to the food booths, Mingyu breathed deeply a couple of times to get rid of the side effects of the roller coasters. Why did all of them have to go so high? He continued mentally cursing out the roller coasters until Wonwoo began talking.
"Hey, Mingyu. I have to tell you something," he said.
Mingyu was smart enough to not get hopeful. "What's up?"
"Jisoo and I decided to switch, so I'll be working with Jeonghan from now on."
The taller tried to hide his frown but failed miserably. He was expecting this at some point. "I knew this was coming." Wonwoo didn't say anything. "Can we still be friends?" Mingyu asked.
Wonwoo hesitated before answering. "Uh . . . I guess?"
Mingyu's frown vanished, and he smiled again. It was a bummer they wouldn't be hanging out together as much, but that was okay. They would still be friends, and that was better than nothing. "Awesome! Now, what would you like to eat?"
He already has his wallet in his hand when they stopped and ordered at a food booth of Wonwoo's choosing. The older eyed the wallet. "I'm paying for my own," he said, placing money on the counter before Mingyu could respond. Mingyu pursed his lips. Was it possible to like someone this much?
Mingyu paid for his own and found Wonwoo seated at a table.
Wonwoo had his camera to his eye that was aimed a small family across the food court. He snapped a picture and brought the camera down to look at it. He hadn't even noticed Mingyu was there.
"What are you doing?" Mingyu asked.
"Don't worry," Wonwoo said, putting the camera back to his eye. "I'm not going to post their picture online without permission."
"I didn't think you were, but why'd you take a picture of them?"
"Look at their smiles. They're having fun as a family. It's always been the natural pictures that look best." Wonwoo had his own smile on his face. Mingyu could sense the sadness behind it, but overall, the older male looked happy.
"Could I try?" Mingyu asked.
Wonwoo gave him a look that said You think I'm going to let you touch my baby? "Do you even know how the camera works?"
"You could teach me," the turquoise-haired male suggested.
Wonwoo stared at him for a few seconds. He finally gave in and scooted closer to Mingyu. A pleasant ringle shot through Mingyu's body as they sat shoulder to shoulder. Wonwoo started explaining the basic mechanics of his camera. Mingyu should've been paying attention, but he was too busy watching Wonwoo's face as he talked.
"Can I kiss you?" he said softly. His heart was pounding in his ears.
The other froze, his mouth hanging open in mid-sentence. He slowly turned to meet Mingyu's eyes. He cleared his throat. "You weren't even listening, were you?" he accused.
"No, I was," Mingyu said quickly. Anyone could tell it was a lie. He reached for the camera, and Wonwoo handed it to him. He pointed to various area on the object and assumed the name and function of each button.
Wonwoo let an almost silent laugh as he took the camera back. "You weren't listening," Wonwoo said in mock disappointment. He went on to explain everything over again and this time Mingyu listened.
"Got it?" Wonwoo asked at last.
Mingyu nodded. Taking the camera back, he smiled at the tingle that shot up his arm as a result of their fingers brushing. He took a few experimental pictures before they looked at the finished product together.
"They're all blurry," he said incredulously. When he had been taking them, they all looked perfectly clear. "What did I do wrong?"
"It look like at the last second, you moved right as you snapped the picture," Wonwoo explained. "Here, try again, but wait a few seconds before you move the camera."
Mingyu tried again. There was no difference in the product. "I quit," he said. He glanced at Wonwoo. The black-haired male was trying not to laugh.
"You'll get the hang of it," Wonwoo said. They finally decided to pay attention to their food. Although, a little cold, they still ate it.
Wonwoo finished first. "What should we do now?"
"Did you want to go on another ride?"
The other thought for a moment then shook his head. "Nah. Can we just walk around for a while?"
Mingyu nodded, and they threw the remnants of the food away before beginning their walk around the park. Every now and then, they'd stop to do one of the mini games or Wonwoo would take a picture. Whey managed to make small talk without having a real conversation. It was nice, and Mingyu was happy. But in the back of his mind, Wonwoo's distance from him wold always weigh him frown.
Earlier when Mingyu had asked his about kissing him and Wonwoo avoided the question, he pretended not to notice. His heart broke just a little. Even a rejection would have been better, because all Wonwoo did was give him hope. Maybe Mingyu wasn't that smart, after all.
"The sun is starting to set," Mingyu mentioned. "Should we head out?"
Wonwoo glanced at the sky. "Actually, there's one more thing I'd like to do while we're here."
"What?"
"The ferris wheel." Wonwoo looked over at Mingyu waiting for a response. The elder looked hopeful in a way. Mingyu would admit that it was kind of weird to see this side of the blunt and introverted Wonwoo.
Mingyu gulped. "Yeah, okay. Let's do it," Mingyu said. Because how could he say no?
